For those of you who have an iPad, congratulations on owning one of the most amazing tools to become more effective in your business. For those of you who own another type of tablet, you too deserve kudos for investing in your business as well. I may not be completely versed on other tablets, but, I am sure they have many of the same capabilities I will blog about.
If you don't own a tablet, you really don't know what you're missing. Even many of you who have the tablets out there may not know how to fully unlock the capabilities to utilize this amazing technology in your daily business.
I have been an avid user of this technology and have been extremely successful in helping others get up to speed with the new technology and how it can really help them become more efficient.
I am not talking about becoming proficient with angry birds, Facebook and/or any of these other highly addictive programs out there.
I am referring to REAL USEFUL APPLICATIONS THAT WILL HELP YOU AND YOUR BUSINESS. Sorry for the caps but I had to get that out loudly.
Do you still carry a laptop?
Do you feel anchored to your desk?
Do you find yourself constantly placing items aside for when you get back to your computer later?
Do you have a tablet, but are not really sure about how to use it for everyday business?
If you answered "YES" to any of these questions, I think this blog may be helpful for you.
I have been assisting people daily on becoming more proficient with technology and over the course of time I will share this information on this blog.
If you have suggestions, please let me know.
To start off I will show you my home screen which has some of the applications I will be discussing in the future.
My first recommendation for anyone with a tablet is to download "dropbox". This single program is the most powerful tool for anyone in a work environment. Best of all you can get started for FREE!
Dropbox is a program that will enable you to work with any file on your tablet. You install dropbox on any computer that you would also like to have access to the same files.
For example:
Dropbox places a folder on your computer and/or desktop. This folder is like any other folder on your computer. You place items in, you take items out in the same way you would any other folder on your computer.
Dropbox will immediately synchronize your folder on all of your computers. If you have an excel file at the office computer called budget, and you alter this file, when you open the same file at home it will be updated with your latest save of data. This will happen on your computer, your tablet, your smart phone or any device that you have dropbox installed.
Also if you are at someone's computer you can login to your dropbox account from any internet connection and have access to your files.
Basically you have access anywhere in the world.
Additionally you can set up folders to share with others if you like.
For example if you are a broker and want to have some forms that you can share with agents: Create a folder called "Realtor forms" and place it in your dropbox. Right click on the folder and click share. The dropbox website will allow you to invite others to join only that one folder that you invite them to. You can invite or kick out any one you like at any time.
I have numerous folders shared out with my staff, suppliers, family etc...
I purchased extra space as I use a large amount of files but most of my staff and associates are able to use the free version.
This is just the beginning of what can be done.
There are a myriad of applications that work in conjunction with your dropbox. The information can be overwhelming so I will save that data for the next post.
I hope you find some of this useful.
I will do my best to continue posting and I plan on teaching some technology classes in the near future.
Sincerely,
