Active adults who choose to settle in Tennessee will love the great attractions in the beautiful Nashville area. Winter months are generally mild with daytime temperatures in the mid-40s and nights as cool as 30 degrees. The winters do bring some snow, mainly in January and February.
Downtown Nashville contains many fabulous attractions including restaurants, shopping centers, museums, theatres and sporting events. Of course, Nashville is best known for its music scene, particularly when it comes to country music. Nashville is home to the Grand Ole Opry, the Country Music Hall of Fame and many other world-class entertainment venues.
While country music is easily Nashville’s largest draw, there are many other things to do in the area. Nashville had an important role in the Civil War and history buffs will enjoy visiting several historic sites. There are Civil War battlefields like those from the Battle of Nashville and the Battle of Stones River. There are also plantations and historic homes including Belle Meade Plantation and Belmont Mansion.
Active adults are likely to find appealing retirement homes just outside of Nashville in the city’s lovely suburbs. One of the area’s most exciting active adult communities is Lake Providence by Del Webb in Mount Juliet. Just 20 minutes east of the city, Lake Providence is a beautiful, amenity-rich community which includes a large lake for kayaking and fishing.
In addition to having great urban attractions, a world-famous music scene and beautiful weather, Nashville is also a tax-friendly destination for retirees. Tennessee has no state income tax and low property taxes. With so much to offer, it’s easy to see why this great southern area can be an ideal retreat for retired active adults.
