9 Comments on Dan Savage and What the Bible Really Says
I read a little about what he was spouting and it is a shame he was speaking about bullying. He seemed to be the bully.
Than, I would hardly call that bullying. Using a bully pulpit maybe and totally inappropriate yes, but that was indoctrination and should be a wake up call for the church. We are failing and quickly. The church is not teaching His children how to oppose this when we're faced with it so we flee. We're not fighting the Savages of this world, we're fighting a spirititual battle in the unseen world. Jezebel will not just be told to be quiet and go away, she is a fierce opponent who needs to be thrown down violently and her head stomped upon. This is not a physical thing but spiritual. Thanks for taking the time to read it all and comments. Blessings.
Bob, as you can tell I am a seeker and much of what you say here is new ground for me but brother you have me coming along. I do know for sure it can't be "church" as usual because that ain't working. I will say that I am in a spiritual battle that belongs to the Lord and with his help I will win.
I believe God is working through me to help others but the attacks by evil forces keep coming and I guess they will always come if I am trying to follow the Lord. Please pray that a peace will come over me and comfort me. It has been tough the last couple of weeks.
My spirit tells me that Joe Smith is much like you and a person I can trust!
Mike, You got it. Here's the thing about attacks, they don't stop coming. If a Christian is coasting along and not being challenged in any way, they ain't doing nothing. I've heard it put this way, "If you aren't having the devil come against you, you're probably going the same direction." I've been talking with Joe. We've become fast friends. I thank you for pointing him out to me. You most certainly can trust Joe.
Abba, I thank you for Mike and our friendship. I ask you to gird up his legs to stand on Holy ground with you. I ask you to cover his face so You can pass by closely, please keep Mike and his family hidden from the eyes, ears and all senses of the enemy. Shelter him under your wings and comfort him with that peace that surpasses all understanding. I thank you that we are considered worthy of suffering for the Gospel. We Bless your Holy name in the name of Yeshua, your one and only Son, Amen.
Amen and amen!
Hey Bob,
I too enjoyed your post. And I too believe we (believers) are in a spiritual battle which continues until we see our Heavenly Father. Let us labor in His Word for our rest from the battle and enjoy the victory.
Best of success to you this year!
Unfortunately, as Christians and most likely conservatives we have allowed small victories to the enemy. Those small victories are turning in to major victories for the enemy. God is almost completely out of schools. The general population seems to believe our country was not founded on Christian principles and they believe that the 'seperation of church and state' exists in the Constitution. It does not. It clearly states that 'Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof'. No where does it say everything will be God free. Just that the government won't say "You must be this religion".
Blocking my kids from praying in school seems to violate the 'prohibiting the free exercise thereof'.
Jordon, Thank you and it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. The victory is already won isn't it?
Than, I don't know about OK, but children in our public schools are not prohibited from praying at any time they like. That's a bit of a misnomer, only the administration is blocked from being involved or directing the prayer. Our girls prayed for many people at our local school and not one person ever told them they couldn't. They even prayed over teachers.... this is not a Christian run school, but a public school. The children have to be taught at home that they have the power and right to stand and love is the way it is done. I was just reading in a book called Spirit Wars of a church who had a problem with witches coming to services and disrupting things when a member of their coven had given their life to Christ there. It went on for months and the congregation grew weary of it. The associate pastor became tired of it one Sunday and decided their prayer warfare and such was not working. He walked back to them and just started hugging them and telling them how much he loved them. It totally disarmed them, made them very uncomfortable and eventually some more got saved and the rest just stopped coming. Love is the answer and when we spend time battling instead of loving our enemies, we lose every time. I know it looks bad at times, but so did the crucifixion of Christ at the moment. ... there is pain in the night, but joy comes in the morning. I appreciate the comments.
Additional thought: I can almost say with 100% surety that Dan Savage and all the other activists like him have never known unconditional love. You can't give something you've never been given. What he has received as love is not real love. Many children grow up in a "good" home and never receive what they need. Myself and Bonnie included. We were created with needs and it's ok to have these needs. When we don't receive the attention or love that we need, we find it wherever we can. This is where the church (us) come into play. We must show who we perceive as enemies our love and affection. We don't reward them for their actions, we just love them where they are. Think about it this way, when we were not right with God, did He still love us? Did He punish us for our wrong thinking? No, He waited for us to return, always pursuing us with His love and mercy. This is why Jesus used the story of the prodigal son to teach this lesson. We are ALL prodigal sons/daughters in some way, shape or form. We need to desire mercy more than we desire justice. Do justly, love mercy.
