The sticker won't let go...

To remove a stubborn sticker from a wall, window or piece of furniture, heat it up with a hairdryer, then scrape it off with a credit card. Another option (if the sticker is on glass, plastic or metal) is to saturate it with vegetable oil, then rub it off.

The drawer knob won't stay put...

Apply a small amount of clear fingernail polish to the screw end of the knob, then screw it into place. Once the nail polish dries, the knob will stay in place.

The picture hangs crooked...

Remove the picture from the wall. Using a glue gun, place small amounts of glue on the bottom corners of the back of the frame. Let the glue dry completely, then re-hang the picture. The rubbery dots will now hold the picture in place.

The zipper won't open/close easily...

Rub a bar of soap over the teeth of the zipper - it should now operate more smoothly.

Light bulb breaks inside the socket...

There are two solutions. The first requires a pair of needle-nose pliers. Stick the pliers inside what's left of the light bulb, open them (pressing against the walls of the metal light bulb base), then twist the pliers (and the light bulb's remains) out of the socket. The second solution requires a potato. Slice it in half, then stick the raw end of one of the halves into the broken light bulb and twist it off. (I know you don't need me to say this, but please be darned sure the electricity is turned off before attempting this.)

Unwanted art appears on the wall...

To remove crayon marks from a wall, spray them with WD-40, then carefully wipe with a paper towel. If some color remains, use a damp cloth with a little bit of baking soda or bleach to (gently) rub it off.

Garbage disposal smells like a swamp...

To clean the garbage disposal, pour two cups of vinegar into it while it is running, then rinse it with water. Cut some lemon or orange peels into small pieces, then grind them into the disposal. Now it will smell like a citrus orchard!

Candle wax drips on the sofa...

To remove wax from upholstery, place a small plastic bag filled with ice over the spot until the wax hardens, then scrape it off with a spatula or credit card. If the wax soaked into the fabric, place a paper bag over the spot, and gently iron it. The wax should melt and transfer onto the paper bag. You may have to repeat the process a few times.

Chewing gum messes up your carpet...

Two steps are needed to remove the gum. First, apply a small amount of drycleaning solvent to the spot (don't overdo it!) and "dab" the gum off with a sponge. Then mix one tablespoon of mild detergent with a cup of warm water, and use it to clean up any remaining stain.

Wet glass leaves white rings on your coffee table...

Mix equal parts of regular white toothpaste (not gel!) and baking soda. Using a clean, white cloth, gently buff the stain with the mixture for a few minutes. Wipe it off with a wet sponge, then head to your local discount store and buy some  coasters.
