And Yet Another New Real Estate Blog Opportunity...
by John Occhi, Hemet REALTOR

There is a website that I have belonged to for some time and occasionally participate on their forum.  Perhaps many of you know of RealEstateWebmasters.Com

I have learned a lot there about Search Engine Optimization (SEO).  I directly attribute much of my success to either what I have learned there or the directions I have been pointed to through this recourse.

When I say I have achieved success, what I mean is that I took a brand new Point2 free website in June 2006 and before Christmas I was on the first page of Google for such valuable key terms as "Hemet Real Estate" (707,000 results) & "Hemet Realtor" (754,000 results) as well as most of the other sought after key words for my market.

Until about April of last year, I had no idea what SEO even was.

I share this to let you know that this really is one of the really great free resources the internet offers real estate webaholics (some refer to themselves as webmasters, but we know what we really are, don't we?)

So, Real Estate Webmasters has added a bloging platform to their site.  Real Estate Webmasters integrated the free blogs right into the Real Estate Webmasters community. This means that when a member makes a post to their blog, that article is exposed the millions of consumers and industry professionals each month.

I can tell you right now; these sites will be at the top of the search engines with Active Rain, very soon.  There are a lot of very tech savvy people here and many more have come to this site to learn the nuances of SEO.  If you want to find out more, you can start by following this link.

So,  when you show up, please make sure you stop by and check out my new blog there - at the time of this writing, it is nothing more than a blog shell, but I promise, it will take off very soon, so please do come back.

I don't mean to burst your bubble John, but "results" doesn't equal value.

For the month of December there were only 764 searches for the term Hemet Real Estate, and 0 searches for Hemet Realtor. I wouldn't exactly call that "valuable" or "sought after".

I'm surprised no one at RWM taught you that.  The keyword with volume that you want to go after is hemet ca real estate.  It had a search volume of 5645 last month.

If you want my professional opinion, the blogs at RWM don't hold a candle to the ones here.  The architechture here at AR is exponentially better.  I disagree with your opinion about how they will be at the top of the search engines very soon.  Willing to place a wager on that.

David,

Please believe me, I am NOT trying to take anything away fromActive Rain - I am a staunch supporter - but these guys at Real Estate Webmasters really do know there stuff and I do believe they will make their own impact at the top of the search engines.

As far at the suggested term, "Hemet ca Real estate" yes, I know it is more sought after - but please remember in June I had a brand new template freebie website and I didn't know squat about SEO.  and I'm not some 20 something kid that was raised on theses - I'm in my mid 50's - self taught all the way.  so you see, I am pretty proud of my accomplishment.

Regardless of how many times a phrase is searched for, a print out of the page with me on page 1,  gives me great credibility in a listing presentation.

By the way, I'm now on page 3 for the "Hemet CA Real Estate" phrase - thats the top 30 out of over 700,000 entires - most of which have been there a lot longer than I have

Point taken. #31 is not bad considering the factors you mentioned. You are right about the presentation factor as well.

I'm oldschool RWM and yes there are some knowledgeable people there.  What I meant by my statement is they have a lot of obstacles to climb in regards to performing how AR is now.  They have been targeting keywords like web design and forum for years. That makes it harder for them to obtain city specific top 10 serps like AR is getting now.

Here is a tool you might find useful.  Your metas are overloaded... use it to adjust them properly.

http://www.widexl.com/remote/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.html

They have a few other cool applications like that.

Good Luck.

David,

Thanks for the tool, I did a quick check of my site and was pretty amazed at what I saaw.  I see I have some tweaking to do this weekend.

so, on your analysis of RWM, are you going to pass on their blog?

If you do pass, would you conser a 2nd blog somewhere else? Where would that be?

I really do appreciate your feedback and value your opinion.

John, I'm a newbie at this.  But I used http://www.widexl.com/remote/search-engines/metatag-analyzer.html  on one of my websites and cleaned it up.  I'm hoping it works better over my other websites.  Good post!  Thank you.

John,

I just came across this blog post, and I noticed you never actually did anything with your Blog - it's never to late :) - Currently REW Blogs average of 580 unique page views per blog post, so certainly gaining some really good momentum (Thanks for the promo btw)

For the user saying we would have a hard time holding a candle, certainly positive huh? In terms of rankings, here is some food for thought - http://www.google.ca/search?q=Morristown+Real+Estate&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

#2 is the REW Blog of an active REW and AR blog member - note AR is quite far down the rankings.

Not trying to pick a fight here, but why so negative? You claim to be an old school REW member, did you actually participate? If so one would think you would know better.

Anyways, the spirit of this post, is that AR and REW are both great traffic generating resources, it doesn't matter who outranks who, what matters is that AR members can use both to help increase their exposure.

Morgan Carey - I am guilty as charged - time is the big factor that keeps me away.

I don't think you are picking a fight, you have a great service and you want me over there - fair enough - time is the enemy, I have a hard time keeping up with what I have here.  I just checked my page vies for March 07 and averaged 1169 vies per post -that's not too shabby either.  Also, I don't recall ever referring myself as "old School".  I did not start teaching myself SEO until last June and much of what I learned I learned from your site and I have sent many there after me - it's just time

Until we cross paths again,

 John Occhi
