Property Tax foreclosures are not that common on Kauai. However The Garden Island Newspaper has recently ran a list of 6 properties that are up for auction by the County of Kauai. I can’t seem to find the list on line yet on either site but it’s sure to run again. The sale is on May 17, 2012 at 9:00am. It appears all six properties are vacant land. The main issue with property tax foreclosures is that there is a one year right of redemption. So the purchaser has their money tied up for a year because the former owner has the right to pay their taxes and get the property back. Of course the purchasers money is refunded.
