A little reminder to live life to its fullest
It's so easy to fall into a daily routine and to just take care of all the things that need to get done without really stopping. How often do we just rush through the day... week... month .. and then wonder where all that time went?
Thankfully I have 2 girls who remind me daily how precious life is and that there is tremendous joy in just blowing bubbles or lying in the grass watching the clouds pass by or admiring the delicate wings of a dragonfly.
Supposedly, the dragonfly is a reminder to live life to its fullest because its life span is short. I believe in signs and I believe our little visitor yesterday morning stopped by to remind us to slow down a bit.. blow those bubbles and watch the clouds.
The dragonfly has different meaning for different cultures, some good, some not so good. However, since there is some Native American in my family (my husband's grandmother) we'll understand it as a good omen that it landed at our house.
It also symbolizes courage, strength and happiness ... a fitting description for a military family.

Andrea, great picture - and wish you a very good luck. Afterall, dragonfly is a good omen - so....
Andrea, my wife is a card carrying native American, it must be why we have Dragon Flies all around our house.
Great shot and a great remainder to live life for now. I had no idea dragon flies were considered good luck.
Hi Andrea, Nature speaks to us of God's goodness. God made that little dragonfly for you to see His goodness toward you.
Hi Praful, thank you! The little dragonfly is welcome to stop by our house any day!
Hi Winston, how interesting! I learned today that Native American Warriors painted an image on themselves and their horses for protection... Considering that my husband is a modern day warrior, I find it very intriguing that it chose to sit on his hand so very still.
Hi Chris Ann, I didn't know either. There was something about that image that made me do some research. Apparently, it's not a good symbol in some European cultures (Norwegian, I remember) but others associate it with courage, strength and happiness.
Hi Sara, yes indeed! I'm determined to be more mindful of all the little things and signs.
That's a great lesson for me today, Andrea. Thanks for posting. Thank God it wasn't a stink bug. What would that mean? 8-)
Great picture Andrea. I loved reading that post. It was illuminating reading about Dragon Flies
A beautiful picture of a dragonfly and really shows off the delicate, lacy wings. I didn't realize they had such a short lifespan.
Sue of Robin and Sue
Hi Mike, we have those, too. I'd rather not find out :-)
Hi Kamal, thank you! Every while and then I like to post something that's not at all related to Real Estate.
Hi Sue, our little dragonfly didn't mind at all having its picture taken. This was the first time that I could admire one that close to actually notice the lacy wings. Thank you!
Perfect picture and analogy Andrea :)! Glad you received a good omen and you are right, we do need to slow down and appreciate and be thankful for the blessings we have. Have a blessed day :)!
I have a fondness of Dragonflies for one reason or another. I've been curious about the different colors they come in - Orange, Purple, Green, Brown. I also share your thoughts about the spirit of certain things. For example butterflies symbolize transformation. I see dragonflies, as having a little of that spirit. . .BUT with a huge attitude:-)
Hi Andrea,
I just love Dragonflies and they land in my pool but never long enough for me to get a picture. But I commend you on getting one to stop on your hand. Incredible.
FYI: One of my all time favorite movies is "Dragonfly" with Kevin Costner. It has a wonderful story to it.
Thanks Brenda! I hope it will hold true and lots of good things are coming our way :-)
Hi Myrl, I don't think I have seen a purple one yet. Apparantly the blue ones are the most symbolic for the Native American warrior.
Hi Kristin, it was just amazing to see. He just sat in my husband's hand for a few minutes! I'm going to have to watch the movie, I'm not sure if I have seen it before or not.
Hi Andrea, at first I was looking at the picture thinking..what is the dragon fly resting on....then realized it was sitting in the palm of your hand. How cool! Great shot number one....and your post message is a great one! It really is a good thing to stop and just enjoy lifes blessings.
Hi Cindy, hubby's hand that is! I don't know what it was but the little dragonfly was just drawn to him .. he even walked to the bus stop with it to drop off our daughter and to show it to the other kids! Perhaps the warrior in him?
Andrea, this was a stunning composition and so nice to get to meet your husband, lol. Great picture of him.
