The house wasn't filthy, but several months on the market hadn't been kind.  The contractors performing the minor repairs didn't exactly leave the place spotless.  The disappointed look during the final walk-through said it all.  They have a long day ahead of them, trying to completely move in all in one day.  My buyers have exactly one day to move in as their apartment will be available for rent Tuesday.

He's a Firefighter/Paramedic with Capital City Fire/Rescue.  We'd timed the closing so he'd have two full days off to move.  His wife recently had breast cancer surgery.  (She's doing fine, and I thank her for insisting I get my mammogram a few weeks ago - it was clean).

The relocation company didn't cooperate and we closed a little late.  No big surprise.  After all, they didn't want to clean the place because they were told it was clean when the house was listed during the summer.  They did, thankfully, take care of all repairs which were really minor.  It's a good, solid house that gave a few good surprises I may blog about someday.

Winter came late to Southeast Alaska and we've only had 6-8 inches of snow so far.  Most of it fell Friday night and Saturday. Since the buyers signed Friday and the transaction records Monday, I knew the listing agent wasn't going to be able to get a snowplow.

ShovelMy sweet husband, Christopher, shoveled the driveway while I ran around with my trusty feather duster and vacuum cleaner.  We even got the last of the junk out of the garage and swept it out.Duster

It feels good to do something nice for great people.

Debbie - your kind deeds will be remembered and you will probably get business because of it.  Good Job!

Nancy - I did it because it was the right thing to do.  I feel bad for them only having one day to get settled.  They'd planned on getting carpets cleaned and everything before moving but it just isn't going to happen.  These were the kinds of clients we dream of, and I just wanted to do something nice for them.

Michael - Thanks, when were you in Juneau?  What was your favorite part?

Linda - Part of me hopes for the referrals, but honestly, I just wanted to help them.  They are just the nicest people and have been dream clients!

Scott - It was a small gesture in the scheme of things.  I figured that amount of time would mean more to them than it would to my house!  Hopefully if and when they decide to switch homes, they will remember me.  More importantly I always hope people will pass along my name to those they know.  Better than 50% of my business is repeat and referral from past clients.

Gary - I'm looking forward to giving them keys within a few hours when the transaction records.
