After consulting the tarot....meditating....and looking into my crystal ball...here are some of my psychic predictions for 2008. Remember Miss Cleo, "Call Me Now!" Realize even in predictions you must have a disclaimer...so let me present that immediately....These predictions are for entertainment purposes only...at least for now....let's just see how close I can get...maybe.....I might be able to quit my day job next year.............

1.  More and more people will appreciate and understand the benefits of social networking....I predict Activerain's membership will grow and triple the current members presently...that means there will be at least 199,777 by next year at the same time.

2. Everyone wants to say they have their own social network...that's right I fell for it a few times..just how many social networks can you belong to and still have the ability to sell real estate full time?....Ning...has made it possible.  I predict many real estate industry people will create their own social networks...some will get pretty smart and create a social network...for their causes....for their communities..and for their local markets...interacting with the every day consumers....now that is a concept isn't it?

3. A reality check for many real estate professionals..Finally they will get it...the state of the real estate market is irrelevant...that's right...buyers will continue to buy and seller's will continue to sell.  It may not be in record numbers such as in 2003 through 2005...but regardless..we control our own destiny's when it comes to business..we decide what we are willing to do in a solid workday.

4.  NAR's membership will decrease by 1/3...that's right... while the real estate market had to correct itself...I believe the number of Realtors will have to do the same...those that can will and those that can't will work elsewhere!

I believe you will see the 80/20 rule change. Why....buyer and seller expectations...some professionals will change their mindset while other's get out of the business.

OK...I am feeling weak...it must be all the energy I am using...wait.Hmmmm....I SEE IT!..Interesting....here are a few things I see in my crystal ball....

5. The new group of bloggers are the original nay sayer's...you know the one's who enjoyed the sweet success of the hot markets...to little to no production in 2005 then 2006 and it got worse 2007. They were too busy to social network...or check their e-mail for that matter.   The new wave of cheerleader's..share information...you will see these bloggers become quite successful as they follow the steps of the Big Dog Blogger's...

6. Watch as some of these newer Social Networks emerge . My first 2 pages of google when you type in Midori Miller . I am a member of all of them and I reap the benefits each and every day.  MyBlogLog, Cre8buzz, MySpace, MSN Live Spaces, Yahoo 360, Digg, MyMashable, USA Realty, HomeQuestUSA and am so honored to be found on  Consumer Blog...one with lots of traffic....one that really interests me....my new consumer friend..... Jericho Monster.  Many will realize it and accept it and hope it never changes....Activerain is by the far my #1 SEO benefit!

7. The Politicians are going to use real estate market conditions to benefit their campaigns, be prepared to make media every single day yourself..That's right write about your successes....Work Hard...Blog Responsibly!

8.  Now for a Activerain prediction....I believe that Bob Stewart will attempt to post this once again.... "I Love My Job, I Love My Job!"... 8 times in 2008 but Jonathan will talk him out of it every single time.  The sad part is he thinks about it more than he attempts to blog about it....we are tough...maybe we can lighten up on him just a bit....OK...a wee bit!

OK...my crystal ball went blank...just like a TV screen...oh darn...the batteries need to be recharged...and there you have it....Midori's 2008 Psychic predictions.

If you are interested in Buying or Selling a Daytona Beach Property....."CALL ME NOW!"

45 Comments on No Miss Cleo Here......Midori's Predictions for 2008....Let's See If I Can Quit My Day Job Next Year!

Good morning Midori,
This post might be for entertainment purposes but there are some predictions here that I think will hold up.  You also provided some good tips and information.  Thanks for looking into your crystal ball.

12/31/2007 06:36 AM by Cynthia Tilghman, Realtor® Onslow County NC Home Specialist (Kingsbridge Realty, Inc)

Cynthia-  Yes I do believe some will be very true.  My pleasure Cynthia posts like these are so much fun!

12/31/2007 06:42 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Hi Scott-Yes, I think our market will be the same as 2007...but the pro's will be smarter...seller's will be smarter...and I think we will see a lot of real estate professionals getting out of the business...those who are really serious will make money....those that won't...won't be in it for long.

12/31/2007 06:44 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Midori - your post is right on target - for pretty much all markets!  The midwest is undergoing a major period of correction, but it is still an area with plenty to offer and some of the most reasonable housing prices in the country.

I think all markets are going to start to make a slow climb out of the 'correction spiral' in 2008, but it certainly won't be a speed race.

And when you wrote "...those that can will and those that can't will work elsewhere!" I almost stood up and cheered.  Maybe, just maybe, the inaccurate mental image of realtors sitting around counting piles of money and living high on the hog will fade a bit.  I'm so weary of those that stated "I want to try real estate for a while."

12/31/2007 07:25 AM by Carol Smith, ReMax Preferred, REALTOR®, Toledo, OH (www.calltoledohome.com)

Midori, This is AWESOME!! I tell you I can't keep up with all the other networks I think I am up to 5 now but AR is still the top and I just use the others ones for security.. You never know.. Have a happy and healthy new year

12/31/2007 07:27 AM by My Favorite Mortgage.net - Matthew J Blum

Carol-Yes....I think the dwindling down of agents will make a difference of those who can!  Looking forward to an exciting 2008.  Yes to try real estate.....so sorry...more of a commitment than that.

12/31/2007 07:32 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Hi Matt-thank you...I love these types of challenges...I know exactly what you are saying about the other social networks....its too much but now I know what is working for me!  Happy New Year my friend...wishing you much success....love and happiness. I have really enjoyed our interactions and look forward to many many more!

12/31/2007 07:34 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

12/31/2007 07:53 AM by Bill Gassett Metrowest Massachusetts Real Estate (RE/MAX Executive Realty)

Midori, very fun to read your predictions. It will be fun to look back....

12/31/2007 07:58 AM by Missy Caulk Ann Arbor Real Estate (Keller Williams Ann Arbor)

Midori, interesting predictions.  If we get close to 200,000 bloggers, there will be no time to step away from the computer if we want to keep up with it all.  How many of those new bloggers will try to steal Lenn Harley's maps?  That's my question.

12/31/2007 08:01 AM by Brian Block -- Northern Virginia & D.C. Real Estate (RE/MAX Allegiance)

Midori,

Thank you for the mention. This is such an outstanding post! I love anything you write.

I wish you the most successful year in real estate ever!! Hppy New Year!!

Missy-yes, it was fun and it will be interesting to see just how close I was...Happy New Year!

12/31/2007 09:25 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Brian-That's right you will see more electronics for addicted bloggers....not sure how many will try to steal Lenn's map but I promise not to be one of them...I heard she really dislikes it!  Happy New Year Brian.....its going to be a great one!

12/31/2007 09:27 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

12/31/2007 09:29 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Neal-I don't blame you she is from that area....but I will say...I loved Miss Cleo in her hayday!  That's right...loved the Call Me NOW!  Ok my friend...seems we have been through lots already and a friendship so new but so awesome!  Thank you for the friendship, the laughs and the little serious moments...Happy New Year Neal wishing you much love........happiness......and success!  It's going to be a great 2008!

12/31/2007 09:31 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Great list of predictions Miss Cleo, whoops... Midori! Point # 2 should be noted by everyone. Social networking is how more and more people are staying in touch, getting their news, etc...

It's simple, it's free(except for a little of your time) and if you're the first or only one doing it in your market... you'll stand out like a sore thumb in the best possible way!

12/31/2007 10:26 AM by The Blog Artist - marti garaughty (The Art Of Marketing You)

OK, I must admit your predictions are pretty close to what my crystal ball is telling me....The market will create new opportunities as the number of real estate agents will decrease. We just have to be ready.

12/31/2007 10:41 AM by Gary Waters - Real Estate Agent Viera Suntree (Century 21 Baytree Realty www.moving2brevard.com)

Hi Marti-ahhh....I think Miss Cleo got a bad rap...she made for some good humor and interesting commercials in her time...I love her phrase CALL ME NOW!  It's interesting and let's see what agents do with the ning site...rather than target other realtors there as well as other places...for me I would be creating my own social network for my community!  Marti always a pleasure....and look foward to a successful 2008!

12/31/2007 10:46 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Gary-you got it...and if there is anything I can do for you add to your get ready let me know!  I have really enjoyed interracting with you all this time and I know there will be a right time for us to meet!  Happy New Year my friend!  IT'S going to be great!

12/31/2007 10:48 AM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Good stuff as usual Midori. I believe some are for humor, but I see a couple that will probably be dead on. I really hope Bob gets another chance to tells just how much he loves his job in "08".  HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and yours!!

12/31/2007 12:34 PM by Larry Hammelman Sterling, Illinois Real Estate (Mel Foster Co.)

Midori! You are a lot braver than I. So, who's going to take the Presidency? I know, it will either be a man or a woman! Man, I'm good. Happy New Year! Deb

12/31/2007 12:49 PM by Deb at Brooks Prime Properties

Hi Teri-Thank you...thank goodness for my crystal ball! :)  Happy New Year..

Deb-LOL...no predictions on the Presidency...I do believe there is a 50% 50% man or woman...yes Deb..oh yes...you can show those buyers and seller's in 2008 just how good you are!  I do believe it will be a fruitful year...Happy New Year...

12/31/2007 01:29 PM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Midori, thanks for the giggles....I liked this, but what I really want to know is how do you keep up with all of those sites???

12/31/2007 04:44 PM by Lisa Heindel, New Orleans West Bank Real Estate (Latter & Blum Inc. Realtors)

Midori,  I agree with Lisa & Matt.  Especially last week doing the week in review, I didn't even have a chance to log onto any of those.  I'm planning on spending some time tomorrow hopefully.  Oh wait, I never mentioned your post - duh!  I agree with many of your predictions.  I see them coming true if not close to such.

12/31/2007 05:15 PM by Marc Grossman, GRI - Central Florida Real Estate Specialist (Keller Williams Premier Realty)

Midori:

Great stuff!  I can only keep up with AR and Myspace....I can't really keep up with either of them too well.  However, both have brought me business.

I think your prediction on Bob is on the safe side.  ;)

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

12/31/2007 06:37 PM by Jessica Horton (Brio Realty)

Midori: Great Post! I find it interesting that there will such a shift in the industry as people leave the business. I got into to this business at a time when things were shifting, specifically to learn how to make money the hard way. I figured that if I did this, that when times got good, and then turned again, I would always be able to make a living. I intend to stay! :-)

12/31/2007 07:40 PM by No Longer Active Albany & Brownsville OR Real Estate (No Longer Active)

Lisa-I have been really watching my seo and where it is coming from.  For starters...I have decent profiles everywhere...I primarly blog here at Activerain..I try and post everyday...sometimes though I can't meaning mentally...so I work on my profiles on other pages.  I really try and post something on each of these sites...doesn't happen very often.

Now recently I have been invited to all kinds of places...I have been selective...I only have so many hours in the day...so my profiles....myspace, facebook, youtube, twitter, fuelmybloglog, mybloglog, msn live spaces, yahoo 360, feedest.com, xoost.com, cre8buzz, flicker, deviant art among other places...these are the ones I find in the search engines....

I only blog on my personal blog, activerain, cre8buzz and occassionally I will copy and paste to yahoo 360 and myspace.  I try and use different content on each of them.

My goal is smaller post this year but many more....each week  I realized a few of my posts can be turned into about 5.

Happy New Year and I hope this helps..

01/01/2008 04:57 PM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Marc-Oh yeah!  That week in review can make you not want to blog or read for days and you did a great job I might add!!!!!

01/01/2008 04:58 PM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Alecia-you are one smart cookie and you are right..Happy New Years...Alecia and I look forward to our interractions throughout 2008.

01/01/2008 04:59 PM by Midori Miller-Daytona Beach Florida Real Estate Trainer (CENTURY 21 Sundance Realty)

Thanks Jessica for stopping by and I always appreciate it!  Yes...I really don't blog anywhere else but those few...I just have profiles everywhere!  Yes...to me the best is Activerain for business....I have gotten some recruiting leads from myspace as well.
