THANKS ACTIVE RAIN FROM SHELL KNOB, MISSOURI

Happy anniversary to me.  It has been one year  and 86,283 points since I joined The Rain.

If I recall correctly, last year at this time, as a real estate agent who knows how dead business can be in Shell Knob, Missouri in winter,  I decided to check out some Real Estate web sites.  I did a Google search and came across The Real Estate Tomato, which in turn led me to Active Rain.

tomatoLittle did I know when I tentatively signed up, what an interesting year I had ahead of me.  It was addicting.  Reading posts from other AR'ers all over the country and Canada. Learning how much we had in common; how different our markets were; seeking and getting advice on our individual needs and concerns.

Membership numbers have about tripled since I came on board in Shell Knob, Missouri, making it impossible to read all the posts our talented Rainers submit, but I learn something every  time I click on a post.

It is sometimes frustrating and hard to explain to other real estate agents why they should consider joining Active Rain.  Why this venue and group could be such a positive force for them personally and in their business, but so often they just continue playing solitaire on their Floor Time.

I have to give a big THANK YOU to the fellows who got this going.  Just received another good lead last night from a man who told me he liked reading my blog and will be coming to Shell Knob, Missouri next month to work with me!  Will that be my 5th AR sale?  I hope so.

Let me be the first to congratulate you, Joan. You are a progressive and savvy lady to see this group and join up on your own initiative. We were directed here by others and, like you, have enjoyed our time here immensely.

We haven't seen any direct business from it but we have many local competitors.  I hope your 2008 is fabulous and the 5th AR sale goes smoothly.

Thanks Bonnie.  Competition can be a factor, I know.  I live and work in a small community and so far, am the only active agent on AR.  I firmly believe Localism is the answer to more leads and sales.  Would encourage you to write more than your competition does.

Hard work pays off...(is blogging hard work?  sometimes it is!)  You write great localism posts and I can see why you have got so much business from it.  Congrats!

Thanks Joanne.  Glad to see you are back.  Really enjoyed your posts from down under.  Yes, blogging can be hard work, but that's all right.  Got to keep the  brain active as well as the body.

Thanks Elaine.  I'm excited about what this year will bring.  Am in the process of switching brokers and believe this will also give me a boost.  Happy New Year.
