2008 Frosty 5k in Guilford Connecticut

How many of you are starting the year with a resolution to get into better shape? You can begin at the Guilford Rotary Club's FROSTY 5k.   The 3.1 mile road race might be a little ambitious if you have not been exercising but there is a 2k Walk that should suit any fitness level. Registration opens at 9:30 at the Church Street Community Center and the race will start and finish on the Guilford Green.

Event:   Guilford Frosty 5k

When:  January 1, 2008 at 11:00 am

Where: Guilford Green - Exit 58 off 95 and go south on Route 77

Last year a cold rain was pouring down so I decided to skip the run.  The forecast this year looks a little tricky.  Rain is suppose to begin around race time but lets hope the weather forecasters are wrong again.  Today we were suppose to awaken to several inches of snow but all we had were overnight rains and a day of blue skies with sunshine.

I'm always running around the Connecticut Shoreline so if you need assistance Buying or Selling a home in my territory just remember to google Dan Cummings, The Running Realtor or email  Dan@CummingsTeam.com

Dan, good luck in the Frosty 5K. Okay, I get it. Frosty because it's cold outside. For a minute there I thought they served beer at the Finish Line.

Andrew... The last two I ran were the better beer races of the fall.  The Turkey Trot on an exceptionally warm Thanksgiving Day and the Christmas Run on a chilly December Sunday.

Dan, Silly question -- do you have to run in order to qualify for the beer? (I'm actually asking for a friend ;)

Hey Dan - good luck tomorrow in that race!  I'm making one of my 2008 goals to get back into walking like I used to.

Love that graphic for the Frosty 5K!

Happy New Year!

Dan I hope the weather holds up for you, and good luck.

You said the they have an option for a 2 mile walk, but do they have one for a car.  I can do a car :)

Nothing worse then freezing rain! I almost signed up for our midnight 5k run here tonight but chickened out (looks like it will be about 10 degrees and we have 2 feet of snow). I did run in the Turkey day 5k and it was only 15 degrees that morning. It was my first race and I think (like with my new experience here in AR) that I am turning into an addict!

Andrew... Technically the beer is for the runners but at the New Haven Road Race there were plenty of homeless people in line.   Some attendants freely pass out the brew while others might give them a hard time.

Ann... So I guess I'll have to swing in next season and we'll do a Portsmouth 5k.... or just skip to the brews... :-)

Tracy... You must be reading between the lines...

Linda... I've been a runner for a full two years now.... Started way back when I was 47.

George...  Bonus with this race is it starts right outside my office.  You can park in our lot and save your legs for the walk.

Jeff... AR & Running are both addictive.... I haven't totally committed to this race yet... Figured I'd sign up race day so if the weather is bad I may chicken out.... Have done a few rainy runs already...

Hi Dan,

Just wanted to wish you the best of luck in the race today! At least there is a reward at the finish line! :)

Lindsey... I'm sitting in my office on the Green and waited until the last minute to walk over and sign up.  Wouldn't you know when I came out of the Community Center with my bib number the sprinkling started and wind picked up... Guess I'll be getting wet today!

Suzanne... Reward..?   You mean the cold shivers after running hot through the freezing rain... LOL   -   I wasn't even given a shirt since I wasn't pre-registered... Think I may skip my donation to this race in the future.

Aziz... Work out real nice.... After a quick passing shower the skies brighten a little and there was no rain during the race.  Started the year with my best 5k at a pace of 8:14!

Paul... Good luck with that knee.... I remember a few years ago when I did my first 5k I didn't train enough and never stretched... Hobbled around with a limp for quite awhile until I figured how to go easier on myself.

Mana... Connecticut is a state of extremes.... Depending on the subject we're either at the top or bottom of the list.!  :-)

Cindy... Running a 5k is a nice goal.... When I first started running it sounded like a huge task but with a few months of training you should be ready.  Walk a little, Run a little and before you know it you'll cross the finish line.

Hmmm, I think we'll just plan on skipping right to the brews, if that's alright with you...  :-)
