As many of you know I have been helping a no kill ferret shelter for the past 14 years by being Santa at Santa Paws, being the DJ for their annual fundraiser “Wessels Dancing in the Park” and in any other way I can help them.
Recently while at one of
my networking events I was talking
to one of my friends and the subject of his mom came up.
Well, it seems
she
runs and animal shelter as well and well unlike ferrets that do eat a
lot for
their size, they certainly don’t have an appetite like these beautiful
animals.
Seems that a lot of people
think having an exotic cat was
like having a house cat, but just bigger. Well, that
isn’t the case and
many of
these animals needed to find a home. That is where Catt, the owner of Wildcat
Haven Sanctuary comes to the rescue. Their wonderful attitude
of saving as many cats as they can
is commendable, but very expensive! Talking to her son
Ian, he was
telling me
that the cost to run the sanctuary is around $12,000 a month. As they
say on
their
website “Making a difference one rescue at a time”
I asked what I could do to
help and obviously blogging came
up and I thought I would first educate others to the fact
that hybrids,
exotic,
whatever you call them, they are still not house cats!!!! Breeders,
bread these cats and sell them for huge amounts of
money to people that have no idea what it takes to take care of one of
these
cats.
These
animals aren’t meant to live with humans and can be very dangerous and
very
hard to control, so just stick with tabby from the local
humane society
and
leave the wildcats where they belong… In the wild! None of
these cats were born in the wild, but they can't live with humans
either. (THEY AREN'T HOUSE CATS!). The second thing I could
do is reach out to you my fellow
animal lovers and ask if you can spare anything to help
the Wildcat
Haven
Sanctuary, that would be greatly appreciated. If you can
help, please click on
the link below and donate what you can to help these beautiful
creatures live
long lives. Unfortunately these animals can’t go back in to the wild
because
they are no longer scared of humans, but they can live in comfort and
be loved
by the wonderful people at the Wildcat
Haven Sanctuary.
