Samuel Langhorne Clemens, better known by the pen name Mark Twain, was an American humanist, humorist, satirist, lecturer and writer. William Faulkner called him the father of American Literature. Here is a quote about New Year's Day that I thought all of us would enjoy after a night of partying.
"NEW YEAR'S DAY
Now is the accepted time to make your regular annual good resolutions.
Next week you can begin paving hell with them as usual. Yesterday, everybody smoked his last cigar, took his last drink, and swore his last oath.
Today, we are a pious and exemplary community.
Thirty days from now, we shall have cast our reformation to the winds and gone to cutting our ancient short comings considerably shorter than ever. We shall also reflect pleasantly upon how we did the same old thing last year about this time. However, go in, community.
New Year's is a harmless annual institution, of no particular use to anybody save as a scapegoat for promiscuous drunks, and friendly calls, and humbug resolutions, and we wish you to enjoy it with a looseness suited to the greatness of the occasion."... Mark Twain

P.S. I’m starting off 2008 with a bang! My blog Crystal Ball for 2007 ~ Who Got It Right? Plus a Look into 2008 has been featured in the group Front Porch Majority. At Front Porch Majority “we're just sittin' around and rockin.' why don't you pull up a chair and sit a spell. We're not talkin' 'bout anything special. You're welcome to change the subject if you don't mind us chimin' in. Matter of fact, everybody's welcome to speak their mind.” This group was founded by : Bill Roberts – “Baby Boomer” Retirement Planning
I WOULD LIKE TO WISH EVERYONE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
