Cold and Swift Current in Coloma

River of water

As the weather has gotten warmer the snow pack is melting and the water flowing down the hill has picked up noticeably. This and the recent rains have made for rapid, cold water traveling down the American River and into Folsom Lake.

This photo was taken from a walking path in the town of Coloma near Highway 49.

We get a lot of rafting and kayaking right through this area. This is the calmer area, some sections are pretty adventurous Paula.

Tom:   I love this picture, the hills in the background really make it a beautifully scenic shot!

We are really lucky to live in an area with so many beautiful places to visit.  If only we didn't have to waste so much of our time working, we could really take the time to enjoy the area.

That is such a beautiful shot and the hill in the background almost doesn't even look real. That's really cool!

We are so fortunate to live where we do.  Coloma is getting loads of attention lately.  I watched the NASA blimp on the news last evening.  Apparently it has been combing the area in the vacinity of Coloma and Lotus, looking for craters, which could have been created by meteor fragments that supposedly tore through there last month.  They think the stuff could be more valuable than the gold taken out of those thar hills:-)

Maybe there will be a Meteor Rush. Lol Aren't they fiery rocks as they go through the sky? I would think someone would have noticed something big enough to produce a crater. Maybe they will start selling meteor detectors in town. Thanks Myrl.

Tom, what a great shot from your iPhone! Bob and I ventured down to Coloma for the first time a couple of years ago and I think I see the bridge we walked on in your photo. :)
