National Day of Prayer – Venice FL
Thursday May 3, 2012 “One Nation under God”
This annual event took place at Centennial Park downtown Venice FL and started with the presentation of colors by the Marine – J.R.O.T.C. Of Venice High School followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America by Mrs. Mattson's First Grade - Venice Christian School.
The National Anthem “The Star Spangled Banner” was sung by Angela Potier, she is from Student Leadership Academy. On the National Day of Prayer Mr. John Holic the Mayor of Venice read the Governor’s Proclamation. Residents of Venice, Rabbi and Pastors of local churches, Lieutenant of Venice Police Department and representatives from Sarasota County schools participated. Prayer was said for our military, gratefulness for America, our nation’s protection, our first responders, repentance and revival, respect for life, our families, our students, our schools, our pastors and churches, our community ministries, our economy as well songs were sung by members of churches.
Welcome and closing prayer of the event was by Pastor Tom Hodge of First Baptist Church Venice.
