10 Comments on Fred...My wildlife neighbor.
William, I know that they really are just rodents with lovely fluffy tails (or as my hubby says, "rats with good marketing") - but they are so cute! And yes, we do have a squirrel feeder....and it's closely watched!
Squirrels can be hours of fun watching them feed and frolick around the yard. I know many folks don't like them but I find them quite entertaining. For a while we were putting about 10 pounds of sunflower seeds out to encourage them. But then we seem to have adopted a family of wild kitty's in the yard so we quit feeding and encouraging the squirrels.
He's practically becoming a pet now! Great shot. We have tons of squirrels, but I never seem to catch the perfect photo and I certainly don't recogize any particular one.
Bill...
We have them at the feeders ... the plain old gray ones, but no red squirrels here!
Looks like a cute little buddy to have around the yard --
Bill, I have a bunch or Squirrels, Chipmunks and even rabbits in my yard...the fox tend to keep the populations in check.
Our dogs keep most all the wildlife at a distance from our home. That's ok.
We saw some cute red squirrels just the other day romping and playing....and they ran straight for us. And, veered just feet in front of us. That was fun.
Bill, the Fox squirrel you talk about is actually just a bit larger than the grey which is a bit larger than teh black.
The little red or pine squirrel are really the destructive ones.
I was only about 15 feet from Fred. He is taming down nicely.
