I have decided to step up my community efforts this year. I'm getting older and I am starting to realize more and more that each of us have to do more in this world to make it a little better place. Unfortunately the Metro Detroit area and Southeastern Michigan economy is in the dumps.
Each week I hear 2 or 3 stories of how bad a family has it, or a friend that is struggling in their business. One local community Goodfellows normally has 7 families to take care of at Christmas time this year they had 75. Unfortunately most of us are not rich enough to support all of them, but we give what we can. But I am thinking of supporting my friends and clients by me doing a little networking for them. I am thinking of doing a client and sphere mailing listing all the business and contacts. Has anybody done that or have suggestions? I have started added them to my website www.russravary.com already. I had sent out a newsletter that asked who wanted to be included. But I am thinking of taking it a step further and calling my past clients and friends and asking them if they would like to be added. And the last step I am thinking of doing is a short blog on a different site doing a paragraph on their business.
What got me started on this idea was a chance meeting today at a mailbox. I was passing out my farm newsletters in the newpaper holder and I met a neighbor. He asked me how much I charged for putting out flyers. I told him that wasn't my business.
He had an unique business of Indian movies. He needs help to get his business growing. So here goes my first push.
