Float Decorating for the 119th Tournment of Roses Parade January 1, 2008

This year marks 119th year of the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena. If you have only seen the parade it's hard to realize just how spectacular the floats are or how much work goes into them...

My sister is here from Colorado with my nieces...so we decided to go see the Rose Parade floats being decorated. About 10 years ago I got to work on a float and it was so much fun. My family loved getting to see how the floats come together. If you have never gone I highly recommend the tour.

Happy New Year ... Here's to a Great 2008...

Hi Beach Girl,

The rose parade is always a special thing to do. Last year Marlene and I spent the night on Colorado Blvd. securing our place on the front line. We had a hotel room (3 night minimum) but we stayed on the street anyway, it was a blast. Actually my family has done it for over 40 years. About 7 years ago my 75 year old mother spent the night on Colorado Blvd. with us, she didn't want to miss a thing, hmnn, maybe that's where I get it from?

And seeing it in person, is unbelievable.

Happy New Year!

Hey Kaye,

That was a pretty cool slide show...I hadn't had a look behind the scenes... The Rose Parade has sort-of been a tradition for the Bueno Family. I suppose it's because we're so close to the Rose Bowl. But I've never really taken the time to have a look at the process leading up to the big event.

Anyway, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Hi Kaye - My husband's family live in L.A. so we go and visit them most holidays.  We went and saw Rose Parade twice so far, the weather is always gorgeous, the floats unbelievable - much better in person, and we just always have a grand old time.  It's amazing how people thought of each and hwo they are put together just for this one parade, but what a tradition!

Happy New Year to all!

That's awesome, Kaye.  You are so LA.  I almost made the error of "driving up for the parade" on the morning of the first.  Fortunately, Laurie advised me of the traffic.

Sylvia- Don't you love the Rose Parade.. it is just so wonderful.. People who see it on TV have no idea.

Brian-Best way to go now is either on a bus with tickets or find a friend with an office on Colorado Blvd and a good caterer...    LOL
