In talking with many co-workers, clients, family and friends in and around the holidays I learned of failed business plans, chronic illnesses, personal problems, financial woes, and enough troubles I think even I could write a book of Lamentations.

Big Foot

But you know what I have discovered in life? There are always answers. I don't want to say I have the cure for cancer or can solve world hunger, but many situations as we turn the bend into a new year do have answers. The search may not be easy, the solution easy to swallow or without some cost, but I contend there are answers.

The root of my belief in this idea I think stems from two elements of my background. One is an Engineering and Math upbringing which always made me rely on that I could always somehow determine in the end that 2+2 would somehow end up as 4. I know in reality the world is gray and it would be nice if life were AS simple as math sometimes.

The other part of my background I rely on is my strong faith in God which I can only claim as a gift I have been given. Some struggle so much in this area and for me it is a constant like a lighthouse on a stormy cliff that never burns out.

There are many questions that we all have.

Raccoons

You don't have to look around too far in life to see all sorts of problems and wonder why they are there or how to fix a given situation.

I think too many people give up on trying to solve problems. I am a natural problem solver and it has served me well in my many endeavors in life. Sometimes you have to first laugh at the problem before you get around to focusing on a solution for it.

And what about all the mysteries of the universe about why life is unfair, or why did a child have to die, or why did this horrible tragedy have to happen? That's where the second part of my background comes into play. If you try with all your might to muster other resources like family, friends, and professionals to see you through to an answer and you still don't know why or what to do, what should you do? Remember, I said there are ALWAYS answers. That's where you rely on your faith in God. And if you don't have that then rely on someone else's faith in God that there really is an answer. Knowing that there is an answer gives you the ability to come to peace with some of the cards we are dealt in life. At least it does for me and makes the universe a lot more orderly as well. So for the new year, believe you always have answers to situations you find yourself in. I wish you well.

Gary, I LOVE that picture of the foot!  My faith is such an integral part of my life I can't imagine being without it.  Well yes I can imagine being without it as it was only about 17 years ago that I accepted Christ as my savior.  The difference is night and day.  I now have a peace that transcends understanding.

Hi Gary - I think that another gift that you may have is that you listen to questions.  Some people don't even recognize that someone is asking one.  (There is probably a blog in that - I will be waiting)  Hi to Bigfoot!  -Virginia

Gary,

Makes my little heart warm to read your inspirational thoughts and wisdom.

THis topsy turvy world, my head is spinning, where is my next sale, the bills are all coming in. on and on and on!

What peace that passes all understanding, quiets my heart, and God tender voice says whispers to me, "Be Still and know that I am God.

God's Blessings to you and yours in 2008.

Marchel: Big foot is alive and well on some beach! Thank you for your personal testimony.

Virginia: Listening is so hard in our noisy world. Another great topic to blog about another time!

Scott: We can do nothing apart from Him. I wish you success too.

Vivienne: Your thoughts remind me of the verse about why worry about clothes and seeing how the lilies of the field grow and they have more splendor then Solomon's finest. Knowing there are answers has to lead to peace. Happy 2008 to you.

Gary--I am not sure which graphic was more thought provoking...The raccoons were cute, the footprint was great but the messages on the billboard really hit home. A good load of optimism for the new year! What we all need...look ahead, within and up for answers. Good post Gary!

Gary-How interesting to have come across this post right after I sent you an outside email. He has provided to me the answers I needed and the confidence I have to move forward makes so excited that I just need to take that next step. Your words are heartfelt and inspired by God.  You stopped to listen and now look at the souls you are touching.  He is a lighthouse into our world.

Nice Gary!  Thanks for sharing your heart with us!  God is great, all the time!  I love the raccoons in the drain...  He cares so much for them, the birds and all the other creatures, how much more does God care for us!?

Be blessed in 2008!
