Say What? Dog Water at the Edge…what the heck does that mean?

Each REALTOR starts their day differently, but after seeing the active participation in the Pet Project contest, I now know that a good percentage of REALTORS in this country and Canada start their day out with something having to do with dogs or cats.

Thankfully the Office Manager doesn’t need a pedicure every day but she was overdue for one yesterday, so that’s how the day started. After her feet were back to their beautiful selves, I tossed the bowls of dog water off the deck and a drop hit the deck rail and the sun glistened in it. The dogs would have to wait on fresh water….I had a photo op. No, I don’t distract easily!

Maybe it would be better if we still used film. I’m the teensiest bit embarrassed to tell you how many photos of dog water drops are residing on the camera card. What I liked about this particular shot is the perspective. It’s hard to tell but the deck is probably 20 feet up in the air…maybe more. When this photo was enlarged on the screen, it looked like the ground below was moving slowly. But then, I am a product of the 70s … sometimes, I just see things.

So, today I pulled up this photo and was thinking about the business events of this past week and what’s on tap for today and feel like everything is a blur. New listings, buyers, loose ends of contracts, finalizing a closing, the Greening festival, grass cutting…a blur. This week lasted a month.

Anyway, I took the Dog Water on the Edge photo and played with it in PicMonkey. This effect is called Focal Zoom. The result is that the main object is displayed in crystal clear focus and the rest of it is still there but not commanding as much attention. Do you think it makes sense to apply some Focal Zoom to my work today? Probably not although it sounds nice. It would be a bit more relaxing to think all we ever have to do is pay attention to one detail, resolve it and move on to the next. In real estate though, all of those other issues swirling around in our heads still also need to stay in focus.

Don’t you think there are many REALTORS who are masters of multi-tasking or juggling?

Very neat photo!  My hounds do a low whine when I need to refill their water bowl.  They have their own Britta pitcher so it is filtered and in the summer they get ICED water!

Very interesting shot Mona, the effect you achieved with Picmonkey is great we have some amazing technology at hand now.  Used to be if you wanted that effect you had to be zooming at the same time as taking the photo, coordination required, hmm kinda like multi-tasking in real Estate.  I guess wat we need now is REmonkey ;)

David, thanks. PicMonkey is improving their offerings almost on a daily basis.  So far, it's been a great replacement for PicNik for me.

Bill, it is outrageous the technology available to us.  It would be really tough to do the zoom while taking the photo.  I'm thinking equilibrium would be come unbalanced.  REmonkey is pretty funny.

Hi Sheila,  that is a real compliment coming from the woman who excels in posts that are interesting, odd and unique!  Playing violins can't happen one handed?  I can't even imagine the chaos and mess that some of our slobberchops would create inside the house.  Total shudder break even thinking about it, lol.  Your gang is petite and well mannered.  Have a good weekend.

I like all the photos of the water droplet but I must admit the favorite is the last one.  It's really cool.  Yep you're very right the day begins with a nudge from the pooch aka boss to rise and shine and head for a morning walk.  Imagine that :)

Steve, I've often worked from a numbered list but never thought to cross everything off but #1.  I really appreciate this thought provoking comment.  Perhaps a list of one makes sense...there would just need to be several lists of one to get through the day productively.

Caron, PicMonkey is a lot of fun to play with.  There are endless tweaks one can make to their photos.
