Being “Eco-Friendly” is very popular and is very important to the health of our planet.  As with many things, there are varying degrees of eco-friendliness.  That’s right….there is no need to go out and install solar panels all over your house.  There are several easy and small steps you can take to get started on your eco-friendly journey.

First, shop for ENERGY STAR appliances the next time you are in the market to replace an appliance.  Not only are you helping the planet, you could save money on your utility bill by installing the energy efficient models.

Next, stop buying the toxic household cleaning products and opt for products that are biodegradable.  You can also use simple household ingredients as cleaning products such as white vinegar, baking soda, or lemon juice.  I have found that our local hardware store has the best selection of non-toxic choices.

Finally, get on the recycling band wagon.  Donate items and clothing to your local Goodwill or other charities.  There is always a need!  Although many waste haulers will charge for curbside recycling, there are some no-cost alternatives.  Lee’s Summit has two drop off facilities at no charge and the Lee’s Summit School District has placed recycling bins at all of the schools for easy drop off.  You will be amazed at the amount of paper, newspaper, aluminum, and plastic that can be dropped off at these sites.  Remember, it’s good for the planet and it is FREE!

Nice post! We now have all-in-one recycling so there's no excuse to do it. Just put it in the container and lug it to the curb once a week. Easy stuff!
