When one thinks of Naperville, they usually conjure up visions of families with children, after all that's what drives Naperville real estate.  Although this is a large component of Naperville's make up, it certainly isn't limited to that.  There is a large contingency of students that attend local higher education institutions as well as active retirees that find this hub has plenty to offer.

A preponderance of medical facilities, doctors and hospitals are easily accessible and provide peace of mind.  The air quality here is good.  The activities to choose from on any given day are plentiful.  The town sponsors festivals, art fairs, parades etc. Walking trails along the scenic Riverwalk make exercise simple and enjoyable.  Health clubs and excercise classes are abundant and provide classes that are age specific.

Naperville School Dist 203 has come up with another WIN - WIN program.  Some of you may be familiar with HURRAH.  It's an acronym that stands for Happy Upbeat Retirees (and other) Residents Actively Helping.  The purpose of this program is to close the generation gap while filling two needs.  Retirees are quite often looking for ways to feel useful and become involved.  They are typically skilled with plenty of experience, expertise, and stories.  Other residents are also encouraged to share their expertise with classrooms. The adults are actively contributing in the classroom environment.  Not only are students learning material but also life lessons from the presenters.

The Naperville Park District offers a program that is called "New Horizons" and is geared towards  those "55 and better".  A sampling of offerings include Computer Training for Seniors, Bunco, A trip to a Bulls game, Chicago Flower & Garden Show, Jersey Boys, the Casino and even a trip to Sedona & the Grand Canyon.  Most of these trips offer/include the transportation to the event also.

So if Retirement is in your future in 2008, make sure that you include Naperville, whether it be in DuPage or Will County, in your decision making process.  The dining is outstanding and you don't have to go far.  There are many housing choices, and while it is not inexpensive, the services and amenities you reap in return just might be worth the additional cost over another community, after all it's all about quality of life, and Naperville sure provides an outstanding one.
