Mottos are all around us, though without questions the most memorable have come to us courtesy of major corporations, such as Nike’s “Just Do It” and Apple’s “Think Different”.
A personal motto is a little different, while some may consider it a branding tool, ultimately the purpose of a personal motto is to inspire us to take action, to overcome obstacles and keep working toward our goals, persevering even in the face of overwhelming opposition.
A personal motto represents a core belief that helps shape our behavior as we try to live up to the message it expresses.
Our mottos become guide posts and verbal beacons along the road we travel. They serve as reminders that it is possible to fashion a life of our choosing based on our core values combined with the passions that inspire us.
