Midori's Way Of Change...Implementing It One Task At A Time!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with Talk 2 Midori, LLC BK645709

Every year I go away for a planning session a retreat..a goal setting getaway.  One of the things I have noticed that each year gets better.  Regardless of what is going on in my life, it seems each and every year I am better prepared.  In my mind, its just gets better.

These planning sessions allow me to take a hard look at my flaws and my mistakes that I have made throughout the year.  Things I would rather recognize and adjust now before a customer points it out to me.  dig deep...to find the flaws...to see the mistakes.. recognize it.... face it and adjust it...deep down I make it personal.

I have a lot of, "Oh my, why did I say that?" " What the heck was I thinking when I spent this on that?"  Yes, I relive it and retrace my steps. I retrace the who, what, where and why..often times...I see the pattern...and make the adjustment...in the end  it's inevitable..it happens once again....change....

Make adjustments task by task...I start change...implementing it one task at a time.  This year...there are so many things I would like to adjust...I need to adjust....I have a book full so where do I begin?

In my mind it's easier to add to my daily routine....some might say...where?  or even how?...Looking at my daily plan of action...there is room...yes we may deny it...often times we waste a lot of time....each and every day. add more tasks..in the end....create a little change ,

Holding myself accountable for what I do with my time....gradually adding tasks to create real change..Bye bad habits!!!!....habits that have been around years and years...I gradually break them....I know it takes time...patience...I can do it and so can you!....Just face it...implement change..try it...just one task at a time!

Benjamin Franklin said it best....
"Your net worth to the world is usually determined by what remains after your bad habits are subtracted from your good ones."

Rosemary-I could not afford to not go. There are lots of people depending on me...and I got a real bargain...all I needed was time alone and with a laptop...35 blog posts in the bank, a business plan, a goal setting plan and a portion of an e-book complete.  I only wish closing the door was that simple for me...it's not because when momma is home...it seems everyone needs her!

Retreating is retreating within yourself...I really understand that!  It's taking a look at yourself hard with all your beauty and flaws...retreating will always be part of my business.I do it daily....retreating away from the rest of the world...will always be in my business.....I budget it in...I know already I will be going again this year in 2008.  Its just part of the plan. The only way to make change...is look at the past...today moving ahead and moving foward.  Happy New Year!

I have a friend who does this every year, and she comes back refreshed, organized and full of new ideas.  It is something I would like to start doing at some point; you're right, you cant afford to not go, especially when there are so many distractions at home.

It sounds like you have a great start to 2008.  Congratulations to you!

Hello Midori,
What a great idea and plan.  Notice I said nothing about easy or fun because I do not believe your retreat is either.  I can see that this takes discipline and hard work but I understand how it would be very beneficial.  You have certainly given me much to ponder.  Thank you.

Midori,  I enjoyed this post so much. Like they say, 'change your mind, and you can change your life'..

I'm a big fan of Mr. Franklin's wisdom too....I've never heard that quote of his though. Thanks so much for sharing it!!

happiest of new years to you,

Jo

Hi Lisa-I have been doing this since 2001..and yes..I can't wait to get the party started when I get back.  Not just business either in every aspect of my life!  Add it into 2008's budget now...I would.

Hi Cynthia-I stayed very close to my home and my brother came to visit with my hubby while I was gone...we are all working on a project together so with me away...they could work even better!  I had a very inexpensive room right on the beach...my requirements...a coffee maker....tv...a view....and wireless...I stayed in that room for 3 days...left to eat and made one stop home because I missed my cats...ok..missed the guys a bit.  Hung out with them for 2 hours...exchanging ideas and I went back to work.

Put a plan of action together...worked on my budget...set some goals...all very time consuming...but I feel good.  If you start the year feeling good...it makes all the changes you put into place very rewarding and less painful.

I booked a very inexpensive room...sometimes if you time it right...you get a free night with the purchase of 2.  I did just that.

Midori,

You should have to come here for a "retreat."  10 degrees and 4 inches of snow today, more on the way! haha

I know you will rock it in 2008!  Go get 'em!!

Excellent Post Midori - Written Goals produce greater accountability - We do not go away overnight ( empty nesters :)- but we leave our home office and go to a quiet place and do an annual plan - we review it weekly, monthly and quarterly to stay on track and every year the bar does go higher :)

Vision quest in Sedona sounds beautiful though - who does them?

Happy Healthy & Prosperous New Year

Sincerely,

Grace Safrin

Hi Grace-I do agree...written goals accountability...Yes again I do believe you have to review revamp and recalculate...to keep your momentum!

I would like to do a vision quest alone...... totally alone BUT I know that there are companies out there with retreat facilities and you can get a guide who will assist in doing vision quests.  Because of the energy vortex...that is why I would like to do it there!

Happy New Year Grace....

Midori-I do agree change is good.  Especially when it's change for the better, change for growth, and change with accountability.  It feels so good to write it all down and feel the empowerment in knowing that it's up to me to make that change and believe that I will succeed in achieving that goal.
