2008 Open Source Business Planning Day - This Friday, Jan 4th

By
Real Estate Agent

Do you have a business plan for the New Year?

If you do already have a plan, would you like free feedback from practicing real estate professionals around North America?

If you don't have one yet would you like some help getting started?

If you answered yes to either of the last two questions please consider participating in AR's 2008 Open Source Business Planning day, being held this Friday.

This Friday featured post positions will be reserved for blog posts by AR members that detail their 2008 business plans.

Instructions:

1. Please tag your business plan posts: "2008 business plan".

2. Feel free to publish your business plan anytime between now and Friday.

Question and Answers:

Q: Why is this being scheduled only three days away.  That is not enough time for me to create a business plan!

A: If you don't already have a business plan, we already know that you are likely a procrastinator and would likely wait until the night before it's due to work on it anyways.  So three days is plenty. Plus there is no time like the present!

Q: Why would I want to share all of my secrets?

A: "What goes around comes around!" The most successful people in life freely share their big secrets to help make others successful. Plus, success is still 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.

Q: Should I put my actual financial projections in the plan?

A: Up to you. Glenn Kelman recently published something similar on Guy Kawasaki's blog and used made up numbers.

I'm looking forward to this as well.  I can't wait to see what some of the great minds here on A/R come up with for their plans.  Even just sharing concepts will make for some incredible info.

Joeann, :) Providing your business plan template would be a very generous gesture.  I sure would appreciate it.

Jessica, Something tells me you don't need a plan to kick butt.

Karen, I will check it out.  Thanks for the tip.

Susan, Talking about a plan is good.  I think having a written one is better.  It forces me to flesh out the details.

Rich, I too am looking forward to what is shared.

Sara, I am very eager to see what you will be submitting!! I am sure it is going to be good! ;)

Russ, There is always more to learn.

Scott, I am eager to see what you put together.

Natalie, Yep only two days left better get cookin.  I am going to try to put together a marketing plan for rookie agents.

Doreen, Hope you get some good ideas from this event.

Michelle, Thanks for the compliment!  I believe that you will do it.  Make this the best year ever.

Josette, Hmmm let me put some thought into it.  I forwarded your comment to Matt Heaton to see if he has any ideas.

Gaye, I think you are right on.  Getting it on paper is a major step towards reaching your goals.  It is difficult to hold yourself accountable if it is not concrete/on paper.

William, Thanks William!  Do you think you could tag your posts "2008 business plan" so we can all find them?

Ara, I think 2008 can and will be better for everyone who puts the effort in it.

Michael, Carolyn, I can't wait either.

Joan, Thanks Brian!  Do you have a plan? I would love to see it.

John, You better pull something good together.  You've set the bar high for yourself, and good things are expected!! (I wouldn't give up the games however.  Maybe during half time and timeouts?

Fran, Stealing is what it's all about. Uh, I mean borrowing. Like you said.

Bob, I love it.  Points are what makes the world go round, and no one can dish them out like you can.

Dane, The key is taking this great wealth of information and implementing it.

Neal, I bet it has to do more with wanting to let others be successful.

Kim, I would love to see your todo list.  I bet if you put it out there for the world to see, you would make sure that you complete your items!!

Patricia, :)

Dee, Great timing - your office training!! It wouldn't hurt to just free-form write some of your ideas down on paper before Friday, and then if you're willing share them with AR.

Randy, Thanks!

Lane, I totally agree.  I bet we will have some great submissions.

Please, help

Jon,

This post is tagged with the tag.......does that make sense? You can just click on it and it will send you to the tags page. Then you could look at the URL change it to search for other tags......shoot me a contact if that doesn't make sense and I will try to explain it in more detail.

Hi Jon.  I'm sorry I didn't post my plan yet.  Business actually picked up and I had to put it to the side.  I'm glad I did, because there have been some helpful people here.  Joeann Fossland shared her plan with me via email and now that I've seen Patricia Kennedy's plan, I think I can move forward with a blended result!

Rick,

Thanks for the reminder! I barely remember writing this post in the first place.  I will run it by Bob and Brad to see if they think it's a good idea, but I'd like to try it again this year.  Perhaps with a greater level of structure.

Great.  Business planning is an important topic that seems overwhelming to many and hard to accomplish.  Good guidance is helpful.
