Lucky, in answer to your question, "When does a pond become a lake?" To be funny, I believe the answer is when it grows up.

Seriously, if you visit http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20060920030926AAbEA1i you will see that someone has already answered that question. In fact, they took their answer from http://www.twingroves.district96.k12.il.us/wetlands/LakesPonds/LakesPonds.html and yes, my answer is pretty much right on -- "when it grows up" since the difference is in the size. This property does not have a wind swept beach so it is named a pond.
