Keller Williams Realty's 4rd Annual “RED Day” Set to Lend a Hand in Port St Lucie as part of community service initiative in the US and Canada Keller Williams Realty associates may be taking the day off on Thursday, May 10, 2012, but it will hardly be a day of rest. Associates with Keller Williams Realty of Port St Lucie and Keller Williams Realty of the Treasure Coast have chosen to “Give Where They Live” as part of RED Day, one of the biggest events in the real estate industry. Short for 

"Renew, Energize and Donate,” RED Day was created to unite Keller Williams Realty offices and associates in an international day of service.  As part of the RED Day effort, Keller Williams Realty of Port St Lucie and Keller Williams Realty of the Treasure Coast have chosen to spend the day at the Council on Aging of St Lucie and give their facility a makeover. Agents and volunteers will be painting key areas of the interior of the facility, as well as doing some cleaning and landscaping of the courtyard. Several sponsors have generously donated products, services, and refreshments, including Lowes, Olympic Paints, Paradise Homes, E.S.I., Beach Lawn Service, and First Choice Mortgage Services, Cutco Closing Gifts, and 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty.

The Council on Aging is a private non-profit organization dedicated to assisting senior adults and their families. Adult day services, housekeeping assistance, care management, companionship, shopping assistance, and home-delivered meals are some of the many services offered by the Council on Aging.

“This event is an entrenched part of Keller Williams Realty’s culture and displays the extraordinary effect a company can have when individuals come together to work as a team for the greater good of everyone.,” said Team Leader/Broker, Gail Hovey, “Last year, we did an exterior renovation of the home of a local disabled neighbor. We can’t tell you what an impact it made on each of us personally-it felt so great to give back to the community we know and love.”

Senior Outreach and Services Director, Mary Craig, is looking forward to the event.

“During the economic downturn, agencies that have helped us in the past are no longer able to do so. Keller Williams stepping up at this time is especially important to us.

Without their help, we may not have been able to give our facility the makeover it needs.

Keller Williams Realty sprucing up the place will help make it a welcoming home-awayfrom-home for our participants, caregivers, staff, and visitors.”

During RED Day 2011, over 40,000 Keller Williams associates participated in activities ranging from food and blood drives to cleaning up trash in public parks, doing yard work for neighbors in need or revamping gardens at nursing homes totaling more than 190,000 hours of service making RED Day one of the biggest events in the real estate industry.

We came, we taped, we laid drop clothes, we stripped the pictures, the mirrors, the paintings, the inboxes, and then the fun came. 

Take nearly 50 realtors and 2 professional painters and say paint. 

You get about 4 hours of "good efforts" and then you get about 4 hours of follow up and touch up by the professionals.

I can safely say I will stick to selling them and let my team of contractors handle the painting and repairing. 

But it was entertaining and great fun.
