The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Formal Gala . . Pay it Forward
Saturday evening was 10th Anniversary Gala for the CT Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This end of season event culminates the year's efforts to raise money to fight blood diseases, and also awards the Society Man and Woman of the Year. This year’s social was at the banquet facility of the Grassy Hill Country Club in Orange CT, and it was a fine evening with the men dressed in their tuxedos and the woman with their elegant gowns, as the sun set on the manicured fairways.
Not to be outdone, the stars of the evening were 10 year old Dylan, a 5 year survivor and cancer patient, and 7 year old Rose, a 4 year survivor.
A silent auction, with many wonderful prizes gathered much attention, as well as a live auction.
There are very few people around us who aren't in some way or other acquainted with someone that has had a blood cancer. The stories are many and not always the happiest of endings, but the efforts and the fight goes on.
There were over 350 people in attendance at this function, which was the largest gathering for this organization.
Many corporate sponsors from the state gave of their time, energy and money to see that research continues for this group.
We were there representing US Bank Corp, and my wife and her co-workers were very familiar to many of those in attendance. I of course was the designated husband.
