Greetings folks! I just created a new AR group - Point 2 Agent sites.

Anyone with a Point 2 Agent web site is encouraged to join. This can be a place where we discuss tips and techniques for getting the most out of our Point 2 site. Have a question about your P2 site? ASK IT!

The group is not limited to current Point 2 site owners. Thinking about getting a Point 2 Agent site? Join the group. Just wondering what the heck the buzz is about? Sign up and find out!

There are a lot of Point 2 members in Rainville. Let's use the power we have here to help each other!

I'll start by mentioning my latest Point 2 Blog - The Point 2 Agent Help Blog. It's a blog on the P2 blog platform where I post helpful tips (or at least I think they are helpful) on getting the most from your Point 2 site. Check it out, drop a comment/question.

Thanks for creating this group. I have 2 sites one traditional website (point 2) and a blog site.  I am definitely looking to get the most out of my point 2 site and I am not using many of the professional features. www.KevinOrak.com .

I just got my Colorado license and Point2 has been a huge asset.  The amount of content available and the handshake feature gave me immediate legitimacy.  I love it!

Jay and Francy,

I posted above that I had 2 sites and was looking to get more out of my point 2 site. I received 2 very strong leads off my site just this weekend!  Gotta love point 2 . ..

A shout out to Lisa - I am originally from the Twin Cities!!

I'm new to Point2. Do most people incorporate an IDX solution into their web site, as this seems to be a closed system in which only listings that Point2 agents post their listings? I pulled up Jacksonville, FL and got 138 listings available. Thanks for the help.

Hi Bob,

I have a P2A Pro site (though I don't know why it would be any different for Standard sites), and I offer searches for BOTH handshake listings (labeled as such) and our local Sedona-Verde Valley MLS IDX link, and offer a short explanation for the use of each. Have a look: www.ViewAzRE.com.

I think as long as you let them know that the handshake listings are just a subset (because-at least prior to the introduction of the new NLS service-it has been just P2A member listings) of what your area has to offer (as "Featured Listings" for instance), it's fine to offer both modes of searching. Just my 2 cents worth.

I do think that the NLS (which allows ANY RE licensee to post listings) will greatly expand the number of listings available to search through the P2A system. That's IF I understand it correctly....or will NLS searches be separate from Handshake? Anybody know?

I have had my P2A site for about 2 months. I really enjoy using it. It is very user friendly for those not very computer literate.  Those who do not have a website should definitely invest (p.s. they are free)  in a P2A site.  Great post!

Hi Jay:  I have a custom web site but I am wanting to add an additonal web site and I am considering at point 2 agent site.  Do I need to set up my own domain name before I start?  We had everything entered to join and then noticed they had given me a domain of something like marchelpeterson@point2agent.com.  Not a domain that I would want.  I want something about my territory.  We put the brakes on and have sent them an email asking them to call.  We could not find a phone number any where.

I see this post was made in January but you were the first one that came up when I did a search.  Any help you can give is much appreciated.

Hi Marchel,

Don't worry about the domain name that P2A assigns you when you sign up. All you have to do to change that is buy the domain name you want (either from them, GoDaddy.com, or any other domain name seller you like - I think the going rate is $8.95 for a .com domain name for a year). Then once you have selected your permanent domain name, you can set up the domain name servers to direct it to your new Point 2 Agent site. There are directions and tutorials available from inside your P2A website online office.

Good Luck!

Thanks Beth:  I have signed up with my own domain.  It was very easy and now that we have actually joined we also have the 800 nimber for support.

I am now in the process of getting quotes for a custom layout.  Actually custom with me doing part of it myself.

Hey folks, I'm just a member of Jay's fan club stopping by to say hello!

Marchel, when contracting for custom Point2Agent design, take care that you are actually getting design work done by the person whose work you are expecting to get. I just found no less than 11 of my Point2Agent and AA custom designs reproduced on a Point2Agent and top-rated AA VA's web site, fraudulently misrepresenting my work as if it were done by her company -- very unethical and a serious violation of my copyright in the work. Earlier today I succeeded in using the DMCA Safe Harbor provision of U.S. Copyright Law to get the offending pages removed from her site. You are welcome to visit my Web site at SuzStephens.com to see if you were misled by a VA's Web site.

I recently upgraded my Point2Agent site and haven't done much with it.  This might be the motivation I need.

We're coming on board. We have the FREE version of Point2. We put our listings on and use the backpage.com and craigslist to post listings. We have no SEO with that site. Still trying to figure all the aspects of that out. Thanks for helping out!

I love it.  I have a pt2 site and have for a few years now but I'm probably not using it to its full potental.  I could use a few tips and technique ideas!  Thanks!

Just want to remind you all that Point 2 offers not only an online manual with tutorials, but their wonderful LIVE online classes through Point 2 Academy. And Coaching presentations from industry notables.

Talk about "tips and technique ideas"! Just take one thing at a time and learn to USE it, you will reap great benefits. And you will realize that you are not alone in your venture on the web - you have Point 2 and all of its tools and training behind you.

I consult to real estate agents. brokers and lenders on social media - I recommend Point2 to agents as the best value available in the industry; based primarily on the syndication model and the cost to get started.

I have a two question for practitioners -

  1. What do you think the best feature(s) of the site are and
  2. What feature do you think you orientation / training on would have made the biggest difference in the beginning?

Look forward to your replies!

Steve

I have a Pt2 Agent standard website.  I'm not getting very much traffic to my site.  I do, however, have my own company website (http://JewellRealEstateAgency.com) that does pretty good.  I have a website guy who handles what I need done to my regular site.   I know there's a lot more that can be done to my pt2 site, but I haven't a clue what to do with it.  There is so much to learn with the new technology.  The problem with the standard website is that you can only ask questions via the computer.  If you have a professional site, you can talk to a live person.  I'm not ready to put out a monthly fee until I understand more of what I'm doing.  Too bad there's not a manual to talk you through.

Joyce - there is a very detailed manual available here. In addition, there is a message board filled with very helpful advice that anyone can post to.  And also, Point2 offers free training sessions that are very good. Info on all these types of support is here.

Joyce, I popped in to give you the link for the manual when I saw that Jay had already posted it. You might also want to check out the Message Board, another great place to get info. There's a link to it in the lower left side of your online office page.
