As we embark on a new year, and as we set our goals for 2008, how can we ensure that at the end of 2008, we would have accomplished what we set out to do? It is said, the greatest gap in life is between what we know and what we do.
We all know what we want to do, but at then end of the day, how many of us will actually DO what we say we are going to DO?
As we review our goals or plans for 2008, can they pass the goal setting test?
Are your goals
Specific -. Specific is defined as having a special application, bearing or reference;,
specifying, explicit, or definite: to state's one's specific purpose.
Measurable - Is defined as capable of being measured. Measuring things is very important.
That's why we have rulers and cups and temperature indicators etc. We want to measure things (it is in our DNA).
Attainable - to gain as an objective; achieve: attain a diploma by hard work. To arrive at, as by virtue of persistence or the passage of time.
Realistic - is defined as real or actual, rather than imaginary or visionary. definite; not vague or elusive: not tangible grounds for suspicion.
Tangible - is defined as real or actual, definite; not vague or elusive.
Most of us are strong at goal setting but weaker in goal reaching. Goal reaching takes work. Some of you may be saying, I know this stuff. This is nothing new...but wait a minute - what am I missing?
The missing link is
PASSION - Are you passionate about your business? Do you love this business or is this just a job? If you are not passionate about your business and your goals, you will not accomplish what you set put to do. You are better off getting a JOB with a guaranteed pay cheque. Passion is the great energizer. There is no such thing as a "high energy" or "low energy" person. You are either passionate about what you do or you are not. Passionate people don't hit the snooze button in the mornings. They have an abundance of energy because they have found their purpose and are living their dreams on a daily basis. Find the thing you are passionate about and then do it.
Spend time in your strength zone. Stop working on your weaknesses. Stop it because you are not any good. People who are not any good at doing something, are not successful. No one pays for average. When we work on our weaknesses we work on being average at best. Look at the great athletes. They are great not because they are average, but they do what they are good at and they keep working on their strengths. Don't spend time on administrative tasks if you have no administrative skills. Hire an administrator!!!
The secret of your success is determined by your daily schedule. Take control of your day and don't put anything off.

Have a successful 2008.
Explore your passion and spend time in your strength zone!!
