Karen Hawkins of Langley, BC, in Canada, Sheila Newton of Anderson, SC and Emily Medvec of Santa Fe, New Mexico are three really good bloggers of localism content and big advocates of animal welfare. They all entered the Pet Project Contest with several really great articles shining a light on their communities and the animal resources available right in their backyards.

Karen’s post for people “Moving to Animal Friendly Langley…Fast Facts Faqs” wasKaren Hawkins exactly the sort of posts I was hoping for when I first dreamed up the Pet Project Contest. She beautifully laid out for newcomers to her area all of the things we’d all be wondering about…the vets, the groomers, and other resources. Job well done!

Sheila Newton of Anderson, SC

Sheila’s article, “Life at the End of a Chain” was so poignant and really got to one of the reasons for animal neglect…poor and impulsive decisions to bring animals into one’s life. Dogs and cats are real live creatures with needs that exceed those of food, water and bedding. The decision to adopt or purchase pets should never be made without considering what is in the best interest of the animal.

Emily's colorful posts about her beautiful Santa Fe area are always eye catching and leave you with aEmily Medvec of Santa Fe, NM good idea of what a wonderful place Santa Fe would be to live in. Her summation of the rules and regulations about pet ownership was written in a style that everyone can relate to and she gave it such a good title “Santa Fe County, Where Pets Live and Rule Pawsitively”.

If you’d like to catch other articles by these three women plus those of the other entrants, don’t forget to check out all the entries to the Pet Project Contest.

Thank you Karen, Sheila and Emily for your participation.

The door is always open to the Pet Project Group!

Hi Mona - how very kind of you to give a shout-out - thank you!  I'd seen Sheila's post, but had missed Emily's on the first go round. Wonderful!  (And thank you for adding the colorful embellishment to my photo - how'd you know I love stickers?!)

Thanks again for the contest!
