I thought it was odd last night when I could not get a cell signal at my guy's house, but since it was late on New Year's Day, I wasn't worried about it.

This morning, I realized,  my E-Key could not update because the phone was off...or so I thought. My memory seemed to tell me this was not the case, but once again I dismissed it.

Got home, tried to update my E-Key and received an error message: Cannot update there is no digital cellular signal is available.

WHAT?!

Tried soft reset, warm reset, back up, and then hard reset, convinced this is my Treo's swan song...all to no avail.  Change out the SIM card to put into an older phone, happy that I'll at the least re-establish communications with the rest of the world....dial a number....and.....NO SERVICE!

Luckily, my day is pretty light, but without any cell phone, or text, and only email, my communcations will be limited.

Make me think I should have a back up cell phone - with a different carrier!

(Disclaimer: I love T-Mobile and have never had a problem with their service...until today!)

As it turns out, my phone needed a new SIM card, that's what the problem was...finally fixed and communicating again!

Carol, that happened to me once, and I was embarrassed to learn it was because I forgot to pay my bill!  Oops!

Carol, it's a sign of how much our society has changed, when we all come screeching to a halt if our cell service goes out!

I know the feeling...I finally had to switch to a different carrier because too many times it would dump clients to voice mail and not send me an alert that I had messages. In this day and age of instant gratification, the client needs to have that call back from the agent quickly...especially if it is a new client calling on a listing.

Patricia:  I checked to make sure I'm current on my bill; I actually prefer to have the cell company auto bill my corporate credit card so I don't forget.

Brian: You are so right!  I do not have a landline, the only reason I have landline service is for my TIVO!

Sterling: I've had some days where v-mail alerts were pokier than others, but nothing like this.  This will be an interesting day to say the least - I guess I'll have to use the office phone to check my cell phone voicemail....

I no longer bother to have a land-line, because everyone calls me on the cellphone anyway. However, on the rare occasions when it is out of service for whatever reason, I try to just enjoy the peace and quiet.

I experience the same as Brian.  Calls get thrown into voice mail, I have to set up my email box over and over, etc.  It is frustrating to work in the info age sometimes!

Carol:

Sorry about your day that is frustrating. I have had a few problems along those lines and they usually happen with clients in tow. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment on my blog.
