Being a Mortgage Broker in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida (South Florida), and someone who does not purchase leads for clients I rely on referrals from past clients as well as people who find me on-line.  Once someone visits my web site ( MyFavoriteMortgage.Net ) and fills out a request for info I get sent a text message right to my phone.  Don't you love technology?

With the holidays and most everyone having odd hours right now  I was able to receive potential clients over the past week.  Once I received the message I called the client right back. Can you imagine their surprise to actually find someone working odd hours like themselves? In addition, finding someone who is willing to take the time to answer all of their questions.

I have found when people go through the process of filling out a request for info section they really do not want to wait for an answer. In most cases they will end up going to several web sites and forget which sites they where on when they found you.

Now please do not get me wrong I will not call someone back at 3 AM however, the way my site is set up is the client will get a confirming E-Mail immediately to let them know who I am and all of my contact information and that I did receive their E-Mail and I will be contacting them shortly.

Over this past week I was able to work with two more additional clients thanks to my competition not be able to respond fast enough for them.  Which brings me to this question:

Matthew, I like the idea of "texting" from your web site to your phone.  My site emails me and my goal is to respond within 15 minutes of the contact. The texting idea would be an improvement.

Matt - This is exactly why our job is anything but 9-5.  Our availability often times has to be curtailed to our client's schedule.

Matthew, I think you present a fantastic concept.  It is amazing to me to hear about the lack of urgency on the part of many folks in our profession.  Glad you have some great technology, and even better, you're using it to create business.  Hope you have a successful 08 over in WPB.

Jason, I agree with you our job is never 9-5

Mike, Thank you. I wish you the best in 08

As an agent, my accessibility is crucial. By phone, by email, etc... I did however turn off text messages a while back since I think they are unnecessary, costly, annoying, and distracting. Just Call Me! I see people my age text messaging, and it seems like they are in 4th grade passing notes.

This is definitely not a 9-5 job. If it was I couldn't do it. I refuse to punch a clock.

However it is a full-time job...2 hours in the AM, an hour there, in the office then, working from home later at night, meeting co-op at WaWa to get paperwork signed on New Years Eve, etc....

I do know for certain that response time is critical.  With the strong competition that Realtors face, responding and being available when it's convenient for the buyer or seller is what works best.

Joseph, I don't think you understand what I meant about the text.  When someone goes to my web site and fills out a form for more information then the web site will send me a text.  Other than that I do not text my clients. I do agree with you it is more than a full time job. Thanks for your comment

Donna, I agree with you response is very critical.

Matthew,

I did understand what you meant. That feature of your site sounds nice actually (wouldn't mind it on mine). I was just ranting my feelings about text messages in general.

Joseph, Sorry for the misunderstanding then.  I am not crazy about texting myself but you have to love the technology from the web site.

Katerina, I would love to find out who the Mortgage Company was or who was the broker who left you hanging. Nothing surprises me anymore
