Different countries have different traditions to predict what is coming with the New Year - in Germany it is pouring molten lead into cold water. You can actually purchase little packets of lead in the stores which you take home and on New Year's Eve you take an old pot that you won't be using for food anymore and melt your lead in the pot. Then you pour it into cold water and what is formed is supposed to predict the coming year!
People do this at New Year's Eve parties all over Germany - It is pretty accurate a lot of the times too! My last year with my children's father was especially weird! I poured a sickle - everyone at the party recognized it for exactly what it was - I knew what it meant - the rest is history -
No, I did NOT kill him, I divorced him - he moved in with his girlfriend - that was 1985 - amazing what you can get out of a centuries old tradition - perhaps that is why it is still practiced!
