The Villages at Huntington located in Melville, NY is a private, gated community of approximately 248 homes. The main entrance is located on Old Country Road next to White Post Farms. There are several styles of homes ranging from semi-attached townhouses to large 5 bedroom colonials. The homes were built between 1999 and 2001. The models are three bedroom ranches, three bedroom townhouses, four bedroom bennington model, four bedroom Stanford colonial model, four bedroom model w/ master on main floor, and a five bedroom colonial model with a guest bedroom on main floor. Because the majority of homes are single family style, there is a lot of open land and the landscaping is just spectacular.

Amenities for the Villages at Huntington include a 24 hour security guard stationed at the front entrance of the community. Every guest is greeted by the security guard who will contact the resident upon their arrival. There is also a back entrance for residents only. The entrances are equipped with security video surveilance that the front guards can and do monitor. Traffic in and out of the Villages is kept to a minimum as a result of these efforts to maintain the highest level of security.

What type of Community is the Villages? The Villages at Huntington is a Homeowners Association (HOA). It is NOT a Co-op or Condo Association. In an HOA, the residents of the Villages at Huntington own their properties exclusively. Each resident is responsible for maintining his or her own parcel of land. The structure, the land is owned entirely by the homeowner and is not shared with the community. However, there are several community parks that are considered "common areas" to be enjoyed by all residents. It is among the few gated communities that allow residents to install their own pools in the backyard.

The community parks include a swimming pool, children's pool, tennis courts, basketball courts, and jogging trails. A unique feature of the Villages at Huntington is the enormous amount of undeveloped land being used as parks. It is just wonderful to walk around on a nice day. As mentioned above there are several parks scattered throughout the neighborhood for residents to enjoy.

The Villages at Huntington is in the Half Hollow Hills School District. The elementary school is Sunquam on Sweet Hollow Road. The Middle School is West Hollow Hills on Old East Neck Road. The High School is Half Hollow Hills High School East. The Half Hollow Hills School District has a total of seven elementary schools, two middle schools, and two high schools. It is a very desirable school district. Every student gets bussed to school regardless of how close they live to the school.

Melville, NY is in Suffolk County and borders Nassau County to the west. Both the Long Island Expressway and the Northern State Parkway cuts through the middle of town. The Villages at Huntingon is situated between these two parkways and close to the Route 110 Corridor. Along Route 110 you will find many retail stores, restaurants and movie theaters. The Walt Whitman Shopping Mall is on Route 110 just north of the Villages at Huntington. Traveling North on Route 110 will take you to Huntington Village. Travelling south on 110 will take you toward Farmingdale.
