I work with 2 inspectors regularly-- and they do great job. But they are not superhuman... just thorough and honest. Love seeing Christopher Reeve... thanks. K
It's nice to see an agent that understands the limitations of the home inspection. Good words about good home inspectors are always appreciated.
I wish my inspector dressed like this.
A buyer recently phoned in a panic and said her slab was crumbling. Her 8 yr old brick home had passed an exam by the toughest inspector in my market.
Apparently some dude in a truck from Baton Rouge drove by and noticed her situation. He told her the slab was crumbling, and even took a screw driver and hammer to show how easy the concrete chipped.
For 500 dollars he "fixed" the foundation. Cash of course. My buyer wanted me to get the inspector to pay the fee since he "missed the damage". People are crazy.
My structural engineer told me a story once, that a buyer and agent asked him to come and do a structural inspection on a home under contract. They wanted to know what was going on underneath poured concrete. When he admitted that he had no idea (lacking x-ray vision), they were incensed.
Sometimes you just shake your head ..
Think what "Super..." could do as a marriage counselor or as a doctor!
Every one wants a life time guarantee, yet they don't believe in Santa.

So true Greg! So many times I have heard "well, the home inspector didn't catch that!?" au contraire Mr. home buyer perhaps it happened AFTER!
It is amazing what they expect from fellow humans... Not a job I would want... it is getting harder to do without feeling like you'll be in trouble for unexpected unforeseen things.
AN inspectors job is very important. I believe that most do the best they can and help identify problems that the plain eye cant see.
Home inspectors cannot find everything. There are times we hire a pool guy to inspect the pool not the home inspector.
So true and I usually give my clients three names to choose from when they need a home inspector. I have worked with all of them, but want to make sure that my clients have a choice.
Thank you Greg:
As a home inspector I strive to do the best job possible for the buyer that hired me to do just that.
No I'm not "superman" but try my best to do a complete home inspection, top to bottom when it comes to inspecting items that have visible issues.
