Who would have guessed??????

Who would have guessed that when I wrote SNOW............It's only November 9th that we would have a record amount of snow here in New Hampshire for the month of December?Marsh Area - Stratham, NH

We have enjoyed a white Christmas and enough snow that the ski slopes have been open since the beginning of December. Children (old and young alike) got to enjoy the new sleds, skates, skies, snowmobiles, etc. they received from Santa over their Christmas vacations.

Typically here in southern New Hampshire, December is a changeable month featuring one or two snowstorms with some warm enough days to melt the snow in between leaving us wondering if winter is really here to stay.

Great Bay Marsh - Stratham, NHNot this year. We are in for a long winter so we'll go out and build a snowman or two, shovel, get to work and back then go inside and enjoy a mug of hot chocolate while snuggling up by the fire.

Snow is not all fun and games here as, we with vacant listings, must be diligent to keep a keen eye on our clients properties to be sure the heat remains on and snow is removed from decks and walkways enabling customers to safely view the homes.Snow removal from decks

I thought you may enjoy some local pictures of the snow here in Rockingham County, New Hampshire. I love how the snow clings to the trees and makes an otherwise drab day look so bright and clear.

What is winter like in your part of the country? Do you love it or tolerate it?

I love the snow but I also love warm sunshine so New Hampshire gives me both, I just have to wait a while to have one or the other.

Hi Judy - nice pics!  I'm east of both you and Monika, and I'm tired of all this snow here in Portsmouth.  We don't usually get anywhere near this amount of snow over here.  We've already blown through the budget for snow removal here.  I heard Boston had blown their budget, too.

I met with clients today who live in Nottingham, and they told me they got a foot of snow yesterday, and over a foot in the last one.  We got just barely an inch or 2 yesterday - more rain than snow.  But it just makes everything already on the ground crunchy.

I just got back from Florida, but it's sounding nicer and nicer for another trip....I did hear we're supposed to hit the 50's over the weekend, so maybe that will help some!

I'm sure you've heard the saying "Be careful what you ask for because you just might get it." Well, you got it. The PICs are beautiful BTW.

Derrick - Thanks for stopping by. You are right of course about getting what you ask for. I do like the snow though, it is beautiful.

Mike - I'll bet you are nice and warm in Tuscon. Do you ever see snow there or are you too far south?

Ann - Perhaps Moni and Jay will join you on a trip to Florida as they are already wishing for sunshine and warmth. Only a few short months and spring will be knocking on our door. Thanks for commenting.

Gayle - Thanks for stopping by. Perhaps a little vacation to our NH winter wonderland will help alleviate the desire for snow.

Rebecka - No power for 5 days is more than I could bear. Brrrrrrrrrr. I hope you have a generator to keep the heat going. Ice looks pretty but it can be deadly. Stay safe.

Judy,

Pictures are beautiful. Glad you have the snow and we do not. It has been really cold here last few days,(got down to 15 a night or two ago). We also had snow flurries a couple of days ago for 5-10 minutes. That was enough for me. If I need to see more I will pack up the family and come see your family. Weather man says hi today in the 50's with 60's in a couple of days.

Linda - It may take me a few days as we are still in the midst of moving in with our daughter and family. Takes some getting used to all the noise that comes with kids in the house again and finding a quiet spot to blog away as I am used to but I'll get it done.

Sal - Thanks for stopping by. Wehave had a lot of snow but this next week or so we are predicted to see above freezing temps during the day so some should melt making more room for snow later in the month.

Moni - I wonder if I can surprise you with some facts about me?

Mike - Thank you and thanks for stopping by. I've never been to TN, perhaps we could do some kind of house swap:) (of course mine comes equipped with my daughter's family of 5, 3 children her & her hubby) not very restful.

Kim - It has been lovely for having a White Christmas and I don't mind a couple more months of the same but then I'll need some Florida or better yet Caribbean sunshine.

Robert - This week we have gone from the deep freeze to the early sixties for yesterday and today. We are actually having an early January thaw and most of the snow from December is melting away. I'm sure we'll get more as the winter will return. Thanks for stopping by.
