I think we should make next week the official Active Rain Let's Do Something Sneaky Week...and  do something sneaky like Suzanne McLaughlin. I believe in the old saying, "If we all do a little, we can do alot". Next week I plan on making someone's week. I already have that person in mind. She lives on a fixed income and has a dog and cat she takes excellent care of. I'm going to make a gift basket for her next week, with things for her and treats for the animals.

I did something really sneaky today.  I went shopping for groceries.

How is that sneaky?  I didn’t buy them for our family.  I bought them for a family that I know is really struggling right now.

I bought some basics.  Bread, milk, two dozen eggs, flour, sugar, salt, coffee, juice, some wonderful bacon, a couple of family packs of chicken, tuna, cheese, juice, cheese, oatmeal and potatoes.  Then I threw in some homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Then, I dropped them off with a friend with instructions to call the family later to make sure they were home.   She called and said she wanted to stop by to drop off some information from the church they attend.

Just the mother was home, so it was perfect.   The friend dropped off the information from the church, and then said she had to run back to her car.

When she came back with three sacks of groceries, she said the woman started to cry.  She also said she hoped that they could use it and quickly left with no indication as to where it came from.

The woman called her later to thank her.  She said that she wasn’t the person to thank, but just the deliverer, and to just thank the Lord.

I loved this.  It really made my day, my week, my month.  Now that family may need more help in the future, but for a couple of days at least they can breathe a sigh of relief and have a few good meals.  And, I think it might have cost about thirty dollars or so.  We couldn’t go out for a decent meal for the two of us for that price.  And, I feel much better than had I spent the money on one night out.

I felt that sharing this might give someone else an idea.  And, you might find a way to lighten someone else's load, too.  It was the least I could do...seeing the need and the really nice people that I have only met a few times.
