The National Speleological Society’s (NSS) Convention will be held in the beautiful Greenbrier Valley of West Virginia the week of June 25–29, 2012.  


You ask what is Speleology.... it is the exploration and study of caves. There are over 1300 caves in the Greenbrier County..





This will be the first NSS Convention (aka MayaCon 2012) in Lewisburg.  You won’t want to miss what is going to be a very memorable week for cavers and families as the mysteries of the Maya are explored, their calendar, and their connection to the underworld.


You can pre-register for the 2012 NSS Convention event.  High school and college students with ID receive a STUDENT DISCOUNT.   So be sure to register early to take full advantage of everything the 2012 NSS Convention has to offer.

Location:

  • West Virginia State Fair Grounds - All the evening events, as well as camping, will be held at the fairgrounds.
  • The Greenbrier East High School - All the scientific sessions and art exhibits (art representations from around the world) will be held at the school.

There are so many caves in Southern Missouri too and we have had a blast exploring so many!! Although I am not too brave to explore those ones without tours!! HA...

Rebecca my friend, folks sure will find this here National Speleological Society's Convention mighty interesting event to attend. I've been a Caver since I was a Kid. My home State of Missouri highest number of Caves, with Tennessee having the highest number of Caves.

I sure would recommend folks attend this here event.
