As I stated in a previous blog, I have been to Chicago many times before my recent vacation last week. However, each time I have been there in the past, it was because of business So even though I got to see a little bit of the city each of those times, there was never enough time to see some attractions that I always wanted to see in person.
One of those attractions that was always at the top of my list was the second oldest baseball park, and one of the most unique baseball parks in the country. Since this time the trip was strictly for pleasure, Wrigley Field, home of the Cubies, was one of the stops at the top of my list. Even though I did not to go inside it was still a great experience, and Wrigley Field was everything that I thought it would be and more.
One of the things that I did not previously know about Wrigley Field was that some of the apartment buildings to the outfield side of the park have roof top stadium seating. How cool is that!!! The resident/owners of those buildings pay a 17% tax for the privilege of being able to watch all Cub home games from their apartment. Obviously if you are not a baseball fan those apartments can be expensive to live in, but if you are a baseball fan, or better yet a Cub's fan, you are in baseball heaven. You can see some of those builds in the second picture below.
The third picture is a statue of no other than Mr. Cub himself, Ernie Banks. At the base of the statue is the saying that Ernie was best known for "Let's Play Two" can you imagine the high priced players of today saying anything like that?
If you go to Chicago, Wrigley Field is a must see in my book.
