It's not that often we have a hard freeze here in the Daytona Beach area..

Maybe a couple times a year in the 5 years (almost to the day) I've lived here.

It's even less often one sees snow in the Daytona Beach area..

Yes, you read right

SNOW...

Here is my birdbath this morning, I went and had a look while I was waiting for my car to warm up. (I don't think I've warmed up my car since leaving Upstate NY!)

See the small white things on top of my frozen solid birdbath?

That is Florida Snow!

Granted this is nothing, a couple little granules of frozen precip. But it is exciting to those of us who never see it anymore.

This is my buddies birdbath, he lives just west of us, it appears he got more snow then me. Or, more precip. fell after I left for work.

Right now the temp is 34 degrees, and I just received a phone call from one of my agents and he told me that it is snowing at the Daytona Board of Realtors.

Of course, wouldn't you know it? It's sunny here! I told him to take pictures!

Happy New Year Daytona Beach!

Good morning Lysa,

WoW, the weather patterns are sure strange right now, aren't they?  It's -23C here today (-10F) and sunny...thank goodness for the sun, it will warm things up a bit before I have to head out to the office.

I love the pictures of the snow crystals and frozen water....     ((-:

Lysa, When I think of Florida, especially your lovely area, I NEVER think of snow :)  It was 12 degrees here this morning, this is NOT fun!  But I'm a warm weather person anyway...enjoy your bit of snow!

Hi Jo-anne, actually this is the 3rd time it has "snowed" here since I've lived here. The first time was Jan 03, then Nov 06 and today. It's really not all that rare I guess. I've just never seen it :)

Sarah, I saw your pic and it was beautiful! I was so excited to see mine today :)

Carole, When I lived up north, the cold never really bothered me like it does here. Go figure? I could walk the dogs at 10 degrees in my robe and slippers no problem. Maybe I'm just getting old!

This post has given me a chuckle.  I was walking on ice glazed snow to get to my car this morning when it was 6 degrees out.  And now, at 3:30 PM, it has just reached 25 degrees.  The sun is trying hard to come through, but not sure it will make it before sunset hits.

But by Saturday we are supposed to hit 50!  Go figure!

Biker Chic...

I am stomping my lovely feet and demanding that you bring back Lysa's other pic.

The way I see it...If I stomp long enough...I'll get what I want...And stay warm at the same time :)

Are you warm yet? That photo is from Oct. I'm letting my hair grow a bit. Maybe I should try stomping my feet, they are freezing too!

Nice snow ya got there. But you need more to fill that birdbath. I'll work on it. I have lots of snow in the back matter afact if I walk through a passage i made and accidentally walk off the path i'll fall in and the snow goes up to my thigh and ya know how I can get.  But last day of the freezin temps right now its 0 degrees.. supposed to warm up this weekend, we'll see. is it spring yet? can ya send some florida weather up my way..

Lysa, I heard there was snow in FL today.  We didn't have any in my neck of Brevard County, at least not that I noticed.  But its colder up there than it is down here.  Right now its 50 degrees at 10pm.  But it feels like 30.  Brrrrrrrrr.

I have been FREEZING!!!!  The northerners laugh at TLW and I because we bring our mittens out when it drops below 50!  I'm glad we're warming up althought I do like wearing my leather jackets once in a while.

Lysa.... you call that snow?  LOL  Our 12 inches of snow over the last 2 weeks or so is melting away as the 50's are approaching.  A remote starter is a necessity in the Chicagoland area!  Makes the car warm in the frigid temps and nice and cool in the sweltering summer.

Erby, This is the 3rd time we've had snow in my 5 yrs here. Ya never know what's going to happen around here!

Ines, The day I took these, the temp didn't hit 40 and we had wind chills. I felt like I was back north and I was wearing my gloves. Our front office never got warm. I'm glad it only does this on occasion as I'm not even used to it anymore!

Kim! LOL! That's Florida Snow! I actually sent those photos to a friend in Albany NY who is the chief meteorologist on their ABC station there and he got a kick out it too. He called it snow granules, they sure weren't flakes, but when you live in FL you take what you can get! Have a snowball fight for me!

Yep, that's ice alright.  A little uncommon to Florida, and we sure feel the cold in our humidity!!
