Her LifeStyle magazineUPDATE:

It was recently discovered by my dear friend, Missy Larson, a partner in this venture, that the other partner is at the very least a questionable character. About a year ago Rachel Walker-Spencer, who at the time went by a completely different name, was apparently sued by the state for accepting payment for ads without ever running the ads in her magazine (a different, but similar magazine in the Bloomington-Normal area). She allegedly conned a number of small businesses.

I'm happy to say that I never made any payment to the magazine and haven't lost anything, but I'm very sad to say that the magazine, which had vast potential, is probably no more. It's a real shame that someone who had the ability to be successful and had the opportunity to do it with honesty and integrity chose instead to be downright sneaky by going by a different name and attempting to hide her past.

Thankfully, Missy discovered this information sooner rather than later and has done right by alerting the community. She's a class act.

In any case, you likely won't be seeing this magazine anymore, but I'm almost hoping someone else from the community, perhaps even a group of local women, might decide to finish what was started here. We'll just need to do background checks on them first ;-)

If you've stopped by any number of coffee shops, boutiques, or salons in Champaign-Urbana recently, you may have noticed a new magazine sitting on their shelves or tables waiting for you to pick it up and read it...and even take it home with you, if you'd like.

It's Her LifeStyle Magazine, a brand-new women's magazine local to Champaign County!

The first publication came out on May 1st and is available online, too! If you haven't already, check out Her LifeStyle Magazine's May issue.

On page 36, you'll even find an article about...Homeplace Advisors! Yes, as a local, female business owner, I was asked to write an article about my company for the premiere issue and was, of course, thrilled and delighted to be included. If you pick up future magazines, you may just find other articles I've written about home buying and selling, in general, too. Fun stuff :-)

Additionally, there are articles about a number of other women-owned businesses in this area, as well as recipes, tips and stunning pictures galore. The magazine is not only a pleasure to read, but it's beautiful to flip through.

Just grab your own free copy the next time you're out...and enjoy!

Congratulations! The magazine has some very interesting articles. I'm sure that your featured article will result with additional business, but best of all it shows a human element with superior customer service. Best wishes to you.
