Thirty-two years ago I made a big decision to get my real estate license. The year was 1980. After being a stay at home mom for several years, I was beginning to think about doing something part-time so I could work around my daughter's school schedule in the fall. I ran into the Executive Officer of the Clarksville TN Board of Realtors and mentioned I had always had an interest in real estate. She suggested that I get my real estate license and become a Realtor. So that is what I did.
In those days no schooling was necessary to sit for the state exam.
I purchased a Real Estate Examination Prep Book and studied for about 3 weeks. The exam was scheduled for the end of September so that was perfect for me since my daughter would be in school by then. I took the test but it took several weeks before I knew I had passed. I was required to make my company selection before I tested so my interview process was already done. All that was left was to pay my fees and get started.
I became a Realtor and have never regretted being associated with a professional organization that adheres to a high Code of Ethics.
I was able to ease into being a real estate agent and enjoyed working with buyers and sellers. I worked around my daughter's school schedule, dance lessons, cheer-leading, soccer games, girl scouts and friends activities. That left a little time to focus on my new career and the opportunities that lay ahead. But seriously I began to find my way and became a Million Dollar Producer by my second year. That has continued through the years.
In those days, I worked lots of hours much like I do today. Am I glad that thirty-two years ago I made a big decision to sell real estate? You Betcha!
