It is usually not my character to promote myself for anything other than business.  I believe in letting my character speak for itself and tend not to toot my own horn.  However, I was recently nominated for the RESA Professional Stager of the year award and have just taken a look at my competition.  Let's be honest, I need to toot my own horn if I have any chance of winning this thing. ( I mean, really, have you seen the list?)

Most of the nominees are stagers that inspire me and that I strive to be like. I would have a hard time deciding who to vote for if I was not on the list myself.  I truly am in awe that my name is even on the same list as theirs and really the nomination itself is a greater compliment than any of you will ever know.  I was very surprised when notified of the nomination and am still overwhelmed by it.  But, here goes - reasons to vote for me:

1. I am a staging pioneer in the NWI area.  When I started staging, most agents here were entirely unfamiliar with the concept.  Though I do not take all credit for their current familiarity, I know I have worked tirelessly to bring it to the forefront.

2. I am very passionate about the staging industry as a whole and the professional stagers who comprise it.  I take every opportunity to contribute to the success of our industry and that of each individual stager who has ever reached out to me.

3. I think that my talent shows in my work and that it can speak for itself. (because I am blushing over the fact that I even just wrote that line)

4.  I strive to be an honest, ethical and moral person in my daily life, so that naturally spills over into my business.  I can't sleep or eat if I am dishonest.  I am well rested and need to loose a few pounds.

5.  I am slightly prettier than Craig Schiller (though he looks better in jeans than I).

Well, that is all I can think of and my brain is starting to hurt from the effort that required. Truly, whoever nominated me, I thank you very much for your faith in me as a stager and member of this community.  Whoever wins, they are without a doubt deserving and I will forever be grateful for being nominated along side them.

HA!  I'm so good at this...

Kimberly ~ You are too funny! Do we have to worry about where your campaign money is coming from? ; )  Good luck!

Kathy - Does a failure to disclose my resources disqualify me from the election process?  Because I promised my mom I wouldn't name her.

Kimberly ~ LOL! Seriously, you do great work; I love your blogs and I love that you put out your "reasons". Now, I think James Frazier is offering some ad time on his Intergalactic network.

Kimberly, I think it goes without saying that Linda and I are both big fans of yours.  Linda feels exactly the same as you in that she is just so shocked and honored at the same time to be on this list of outstanding folks.  Having said all that, have you been able to use your influence to get me in the Intergalactic network?  Or maybe you already have and I just don't know it!

Kathy - Thanks and as the Supreme Commander of the Intergalactic Association, why didn't I think of that?

Gary - I'm sure you know that the feeling is mutual - and consider yourself inducted! :)

Kimberly - I know exactly how you feel!  When the awards came out I know a few stagers who advised they thought it would be OK to nominate yourself.  While I do think it is OK it is just not my personal style.  It may be something I need to get over.  I did nominate one of the rookies, who happens to be on my team.  (Bevin Googer) I think she is extremely deserving.  I really did not personally expect to be nominated.  I have to say I am honored and really glad that I was though... I don't think I would know WHO to vote for otherwise... I mean how do you decide?

You are great and more than deserving of the nomination... the choice will be really hard for voters to decide I bet!

Good luck!

Kimberly: Congratulations on your nomination. The field is, indeed, thick with deserving indiviuals, and you are no exception. I think our industry will be well served no matter whom wins. I wish you the best of luck, Kimberly.

Melissa - I totally agree. I don't think an award means much if you give it to yourself.  I used to think the stars on Hollywood blvd meant something until I learned that they are just used as PR by the celebrities and their agents.  Kind of takes the prestie out of it.  Thanks for the kind words and congratulations on your own nomination!

Michelle - You and Melissa are two of the ones on that list that made me laugh at my own nomination.  Between you two, Craig, Kate, Lori Kim, Kym, Linda, etc. (sorry, I didn't commit them all to memory, but you all know who you are)...I'll be lucky not to come in dead last!  You are absolutely right - whoever wins, we can't lose!  Good luck to you as well!

Hey, at least we can all use the nomination for PR, right?  ;)

Phyllis - You are too kind!

Lori Kim- Maybe this is the lesson we need to learn?  It's okay to say good things about yourself?  I can't wait to read your blog!

Margaret - I guess that shows you that how other percieve you is not always how you perceive yourself.  Thanks so much!  (Me, too!  I hope we get more social time at the next event!)

Kim did you see the article in the times today for the class on home staging?  Maybe a post on your thoughts?

Thanks for the heads up on that Steve.  I read everything they had to say online about it, but there is no instructor listed, so I don't know if that person is even qualified to teach the class.  I may dig a little more tomorrow and see what I can find out.  And I will definitely blog about it.
