How to Use Pinterest with Real Estate

The light (in my mind) has finally come on with Pinterest and how to use it with Real Estate.

Working for a real estate company as a blogger, I'm in charge of all the social media stuff, too. And so when Twitter came along, I had to get my mind around that. And then when Facebook (business) pages were the new thing, I had to get my mind around that.

And now it's Pinterest. And I've been thinking, thinking, thinking, thinking. And now I believe I've come up with a way to use it.

First things first. As it is with blogging, tweeting, Facebooking, etc., you just need to have fun doing it (bottom line). And, oh, how I can see Pinterest as being so much fun, fun, fun. I was telling the ladies I work with that 80% (or so) of Pinterest users are indeed female ~ and I went on, "And I can see how easy it is to get addicted to this thing." (Will there be a need for a "Pinners Anonymous" soon?)

Pinterest is all about pinning and re-pinning. Basically, it's an online bulletin board where you pin pictures, notes, etc., from anywhere on the web. You can upload your own stuff, too.

And so that's the first thing, have fun with Pinterest. (And you will.)

The second thing now is how to use it with Real Estate (and how I've started using Pinterest with Real Estate). I have a whole slough of content already from almost 6 years of blogging and posting online. In my most recent days I've learned how to create infographics, what I call "quote images" ~ and even an online eMagazine to promote our company's homes for sale.

Since Pinterest is all about pictures, I decided to create a board called "My Infographics" (see thumbnail), another one called, "My Quotes" (each of those I crafted myself), a third board called, "Homes for Sale" (where I've been putting up pictures of listings with back links to each website) and then finally a board called, "eMagazine."

My "fun"boards (see thumbnail again) are just below these (Other Infographics, Weather, San Francisco, Interesting Homes).

And voila! I've got a Pinterest outpost for our Real Estate company.

Just like other social media sites you need to follow other Pinterest users (of course), "like" and repin their postings to gain attention and an audience. I'm already seeing an increase in traffic to our company blog.

Maybe Pinterest has a place in your social media strategy (Real Estate or other business)? Let me know if you would like an invite.

Hi Mike,  I've seen the stats on Pinterest and they are amazing.  I'm still trying to figure out how to start using it.
