roses

When the doorbell rang yesterday morning at 8:30am I was annoyed.  Sundays should not start before 10:00 am in my opinion.

We may be up but we are definetely not ready for prime time or visitors.

Ralph looked out and said "FedEx?"

We were certainly not expecting a delivery.  My thoughts harkened back to a few weeks ago when one of those companies who send stuff unsolicited and charge your accounts had sent a package of unwanted product.

Grrrr.  Ralph opened the door and found a box on the porch.

It was labeled "flowers."

It was in fact a beautifully packaged box of 24 roses in a lovely purple vase.

What lovely fragrance they filled our kitchen with as we carefully unpacked them following the enclosed instructions.

The arrangement now makes a beautiful addition to our carefully staged "for showing" dining table.

Little did I dream that that early morning annoying ring would make such a delightful beginning to my day!

One of our sons lives out in Albuquerque and had carefully planned my gift for mothers day.  I had always been grateful for the privilege of being his mom.

It was a good thing that the delivery was early after all!  Had the box arrived after we had left for church,  the flowers would have been out there until the next time we opened the front door.  That well might have been tomorrow afternoon.  We come and go through the garage and back door.

The surprise doorbell led to a beautiful day.  Perhaps I will suspend my annoyance the next time I hear it too early in the day.  Hope so!
