Home Stager with ReStyled to Sell Home Staging New Jersey

First, let me wish everyone a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year. As the busy season is fading away and we are recovering from the Christmas fun, eating and shopping, it is time to settle down and begin setting goals for the New Year. So let's look at some simple guidelines that I have found helpful.

1. First be true to yourself and your business plan. Don't try to mimic anyone else's model. Your talents and gifts are unique and that is what sets you apart from other businesses. Everyone has a special niche.

2. Connect with your previous clients and/or realtors. Meet new realtors by doing office presentations.

3. Don't give up! Over the past week, I have received phone calls from realtors that I spoke with over a year ago who are looking to finally add staging to their marketing plan. More than ever, staging services will be needed in order for houses to sell. Remember that anytime that has been put into your business is NEVER a waste of time.

4. Remember why you got into this business in the first place!

5. Join a new business referral group. This will expand your horizon of referrals and hopefully help you to tap into a whole new group of people.

6. I said this before, but it is worth repeating...Do One Thing Everyday That Makes You Uncomfortable! The first time I tried this I met a realtor that did not use my services but was kind enough to refer me to her friend who belonged to a large realty company. To this day, they are one of my biggest clients. I remember sitting in my car in front of that Open House and I DID NOT want to go in, BUT I said "Okay, this makes me uncomfortable, but it's my one thing for today", I'm glad I did and so will you.

7. Organize your paperwork, inventory, address books, portfolio, your books, office and anything else that may be causing you stress to be around. Get your taxes prepared and completed EARLY!!

Be prepared as the busy season is upon us. Remember, now is the time that sellers will be calling upon home stagers. The Spring market is around the corner, now is the time to get those homes into shape!! December was an unusually busy month and January is proving to be the same. ARE YOU READY??

Phyllis - I enjoyed reading your post . . . however, it made me think of all the things I need to get done. Now I'll have to get everything in order for the year. More worries . . . .  ;)

Happy New Year!

Phyllis, I agree that you have to model your plan in what is right for you. You can't model anyone else, or it will not feel right.

Phyllis, great post.  I really liked point #6 - do something every day that makes you uncomfortable.  It's hard taking risks, but it can sure pay off sometimes!

I love this post.  It put a smile on my face (#4) and made me anxious (#6) all at the same time.  Kind of like a "sweet & sour" taste!

Thanks for jump starting my New Year!  I have taken a deep breath and I am ready to go!! :)

Phyllis -- do you know you most always write what I think?  Now, if I could just act as you write!

Phyllis, every time I walk into a real estate office I'm uncomfortable :-)  So guess I have that one covered.  I'm spending the slow month of January working on my marketing and getting my papers ready for taxes.  There is always something that needs to be done in this business, isn't there?

Phyllis, your goal to network and make presentations to Realtors is right on target. For me, as a Realtor, I have found the Stagers, so many are not as proactive as you. I think the ones that find the Realtors will get a bigger share of the market.

 Happy New Year.

Phyllis; I love your comment about doing something you're not quite comfortable doing.  I think sometimes we tend to build up things in our head and when we just do it; doesn't send to be that bad and after a few passes, really becomes a second nature.

Alright, alright...I know you're right. I just want to let you know that my office is a disaster; however, I did manage to get onto our local television station again on their "home" segment. I have lectured several times in front of large audiences...but t.v. is much different. It doesn't really feel natural. So I find it a BIG challenge....

wish you were here to hold my hand:)
