Incomplete AR profiles

What is your opinion on this? Should Active Rain go to a policy where your profile becomes inactive after a certain amount of time has passed with no activity. Why clog up Active Rain's servers with these profiles. Either you are a RAINER or not. Personally, I love Active Rain. A true professional uses their resources.

In this day and time, there is no excuse for no content!!!

I also have seen where an agent forgets their information. Next thing you know there pops up another profile with their info.

What about folks with outdated office information?

The first thing you do is update the best resource(Active Rain)!

Another prime example is where an Active Rainer is no longer in business.

Even if I go out of business, I would clean up my Active Rain by deleting profile.

This is not for the readers that just read!

I'm saying for folks that do not log in after a certain amount of time! Send them an email that their profile will be inactive if they do not log in.

NO!  NO!  NO!  I know lots of people who can't type.  Joined.  Put up a measly, crappy profile.  And the READ a LOT and are very ACTIVE in they enjoy reading sense.  Just because they don't participate in writing and good profiles does not mean they are not reading and enjoying every day.  Someone has to read all this stuff we write.

Don't judge members by their writing only.  Some read only.  And they have to be Members to read the Members Only stuff.

Hmmm interesting question, but I think I'm w/ Ardell. Just because they aren't active "posters", they may comment from time to time and be avid readers. I say err on the side of kindness ;-)

 Ardell & Colleen,

I'm with Chris on this. If they are just readers they have to log in, then they can stay. There has to be a lot of wasted space on AR servers which causes speed and maintenance issues. AR can figure it out. They have done pretty well so far!

Actually I knew someone with a long learning curve who was reading while NOT logged in and didn't realize they were missing "members only" posts.  Many months of reading before reading in a logged in state.

I've seen several times were active Rainers had to come back with a new post because they made one without realizing that they weren't logged in.

I would agree with a time period of say one year.  If you haven't figured it out by then, you ain't going to.

Dump after one year would be my thought.

There should also be a means of removing those who are known to be out of business.

The profiles should be left, as there is contact information on them. As this site grows bigger they'll migrate back you'll see, if they don't they lose not you.

Another point, when someone stops participating or sadly passes away if they are removed so are all the points that were earned by members.

I was also saying to make them inactive. You still keep points.Only trying to encourage to keep site updated!!!
