I got hit twice in the last seven days. First this beautiful lady got me, then this clown...........so to you, my lucky reader, you get ten things about MeMe.........hahaha, kidding of course. It's been seven days and I can't think of five things.....so if I were to do ten I would have to copy and paste from this post, then I'd have to splat myself for copying and pasting from somewhere else, which would result in me sending a condescending email to ActiveRain asking who had the gumption to take away my points and "how dare they". At this point I would have to respond to myself.................well you get the picture, and I think we can all agree, it could get ugly!!

So here are five more things you would probably have no interest in knowing about me.

1. I was born and raised in Seattle area and I will not step in a Starbucks Coffee Shop. I absolutely refuse!! There is a Starbucks every couple of blocks around these parts. In Seattle, there are buildings that have more than one Starbucks coffee station in the building. And there are buildings with more than one Starbucks next to buildings with more than one Starbucks. It is on the verge of being completely ridiculous. (right now it is just ridiculous).

Why you might ask? Why do I refuse to give my money to the evil coffee giant? Is it because I think it is absurd that people will pay $4 for a cup of coffee that only eight years ago wouldn't go for more than $1? Nope, I'll actually spend $4 at a Tully's or the little independent shop down the street. Is it because I think Starbucks coffee tastes burned or charred? No, I'll actually drink the stuff if someone else buys it and brings it to me. The reason I will not drink Starbucks coffee is because their CEO/founder Howard Schultz is a sell out. Yep, that's right, he sold out our whole city. How? He used to own the Seattle Supersonics and after trying to hold the city hostage for a new publicly funded arena, and not getting his way........he sold the team to a group of investors from Oklahoma City..........who are now threatening the same thing. In fact, they just recently filed for relocation and the cities chances of keeping the team look worse every day. It makes me SICK even writing it down. Some of my first memories I have in my life are of attending Sonics games with my dad when I was really little...........and because of Schultz, I may never get that chance with my son and I am BITTER (just like a cup of Starbucks coffee).

2. I lost the school election for sixth grade president of our elementary school by one vote to Nathan Conrad (any time I can throw in an old friends name in hopes he will google himself and get in touch with me, I will totally do it!!). We lived close enough to the school that we (my three blood brothers and my one step brother) walked home from school. My step brother and I were the same age (my mom was married to his dad) and my next youngest brother, Timmy, was two years younger than me, so he would have been in fourth grade (although maybe the elections were at the end of the previous year and I was in fifth grade and Tim was in third, I can't remember exactly). On the walk home from school the day that I lost the election, some poor sap had the nerve to turn around to me on the walk home and say "you know, if I would have voted for you, you would have won..........but why would I vote for a LOSER". I should probably preface this with the fact that my brother Tim might have been the biggest kid in school, as a fourth (like I said, maybe third) grader. This kid didn't stand a chance.........my brother ran that boy down and whooped him something fierce!!

My political career would rebound though as I was elected president of my junior high school in a landslide.

Kelan3. My son is UNBELIEVABLY CUTE!!! And I'm not just saying that because he is my son. It is getting increasingly hard to go out in public and not have every childless woman under the age of 30 (or any woman with grown kids) within 300 yards making a beeline to this little guy with some laughable reason to pinch his cheeks and goo over how cute he is. If this keeps up, and he takes after me in ANY way............he is going to be TROUBLE!!!!

4. I can't stand the phrase "it is what it is". It literally upsets me. It just is. THAT'S IT!!! It being what it is goes without saying!!!

5. I was with Jonathan the first time he ever had more than two drinks. A friend of mine got us an invitation to Club Prey, one of the hottest clubs (at the time) in Los Angeles. We stood three feet from Kanye West as he performed close enough that Jon or I could have reached out and grabbed his mic. Leonardo DiCaprio was in a booth behind us, and Jamie Foxx had his posse in another booth(they had both been recently nominated for Oscars, Leo for The Aviator and Foxx for Ray) Hugh Hefner was in a private room in the back.......but his bunnies were out dancing......along with about 20 other women, each one more beautiful than the next (although none as beautiful as her).......and in the middle of all of them............Jon.............and no folks.........he can not dance (normally........this night he was in another world)!!! It was priceless!!!

(I will be back to edit this to add some pictures and pick my next victims.............until then, play nice :) )

I am sure you have fun when women come by and pinch yer sons cheeks, Bob....... and most kids that are cute will have to be protected and taught to not use thier looks in the wrong way and for the wrong things.... any young lady who knows her looks can get her presents is proof enough....

Sounds like you might end up having your hands full, hmm?

Hehehehehe.....

Bob- Your baby is adorable and I am not by any means childless! That is interesting about Starbucks. Well, I don't drink coffee so have no fear, you will not see me at Starbucks. I lived in Seattle when Starbucks was just a tiny company, local thing, one of our students in our Tae Kwon Do school that we owned was friends with one of the partners when they were trying to go public. He told us it would be the best penny stock we could ever by and they were going to take this coffee national. My X does not have a mind for stocks and he said no one outside of Seattle would ever buy Starbucks coffee! I could be super rich by now! LOL! Katerina

Very good! I thought that all people in Seattle went to Starbucs! Lord knows, there's one on every corner. What do you do to get your daily dose of caffeine?  Gives me the jitters just thinking about it!  8-)

Bob - No Starbucks?? My husband would adore you! He hates Starbucks!

You have one adorable baby!

I say this sheepishly.....   I go to Starbucks....  It was the only place to go and sit down for an hour between my 'other' job and Real Estate School and I got hooked....but only when it's cold outside.  And it's a froo froo drink that I get.  Their regular coffee just doesn't do it for me.

Thanks for putting more of YOU there, Bob.  Both the baby and your wife are beautiful!

Bob, I rarely if ever go to Starbucks.  Now for some reason during the holidays I received two Starbucks gift cards totaling $35.  I can't let them go to waste.  Can I buy you a Grande Peppermint Mocha Half-Caf w/Skim?

Bob.... I'm with you on Starbucks and take it a step further and stay away from Donkin' Donuts also... Got accustom to my own home brewed coffee and unless I'm traveling I make my own.... Hope Jon's developed a tolerance to the "2 Drink Minimum",  I'll be sure to be at the party early in the city so I can meet him before he this the floor....

I rarely drink Starbucks either and we have them everywhere in Ann Arbor too. I just don't like the taste, too strong. As a mother of 5, I still get attracted to babies, probably why I had so many. I also have a 2 drink minimum or I go to sleep. LOL  Fun meme, glad to know more about you and Sara and Sandra are beautiful woman!

Wow, Bob, I did not even know there was a Group called "Crap" that is absolutely hilarious, and I guess I will have to join that one for sure. Well, I read in the WSJ that Howard Schultz is coming back to help lift up the stock, is that true? $4.00 is outrageous and the Dairy Farmers are telling us that the milk prices due to supply and demand, from Starbucks are partly to blame. My brother owns five coffee shops all Independent and it is amazing the Starbucks predatory practices, but he is able to compete with them head to head. The average Starbucks uses something like 40-80 gallons of milk per day and that's now cow crap. - Anyway, loved the post. Lance

I figured the reason there were some many Starbucks in Seattle was to give everyone a store to duck into to get out of the rain.  I've got a really cute granddaughter in Denver who might be right up the alley for your son.  Perhaps we could arrange a merge now and save all of us the trouble of what is to come in their teenage years?

Thanks for the morning smile!

Bob,  Interesting MeMe.  I very rarely go into a Starbucks, there is just something about it.  I'd rather brew my own coffee or tea at home.

The title caught me before I even realized who was writing this!  Go Bob GO!

I love #1, we are very alike in that arena.  We are both grudge holders and think too much about stuff and should be proud about it.  I personally don't like Starbutts because it makes me sick to my stomach and that is why I nicknamed it as such!

#2 could scar you for life and that is probably why you are also a grudge holder.

#3 reminds me of my husband.  When I was young and naive I always wondered why he would want to take the trolls everywhere with him when he would go out and do shopping alone.

#4:  I use that comment so it is what it is :)

#5:  Funny!!  Poor JW has been outed!

Bob... this was hilarious.  I can't relate to what you said about Starbuck's and coffee... I don't drink it. If I need my morning fix, Mountain Dew and red Bull...  and sometimes all at once... LOL

In regards to to you losing the election, get on with the story boy... lol   I almost fell asleep, you trying to figure out when this actually took place... lol   And your son, looks precious.

lastly...  I also can't stand the phrase, "it is what it is"... I so hate that....   I believe that you can change things and or make an effort and just not use that as your ending answer. And in regards to Jonathan and dancing after a few drinks, tomorrow should be very interesting.  I would have been in the back booth with Hefner. When I type really quick and sign off with my name, sometimes I hit "H" instead of "J"....  they are right next door... so instead of Jeff, you will get Heff....  lol

PS>.. I feel sorry for those lost souls that you will be tagging....

Bob - I'm still loving the crapgroup!   I feel the same way about Starbucks and for that I don't own any stock options.  Loved the title but I should say my father still gives me crap because I tend to oft-times use the saying, "It is what it is."  Hmmmmm, I may just of had an epiphany for a title to another post:-)

I prefer to patronize locally owned coffee shops.  The coffee is better, organic and fair trade.  I'm a big believer in putting your money where your heart is and can totally understand your boycott.  Your son deserves to share your tradition.  What a cutie!  I would definitely be in the line to ooh and aaahh.

Hi Bob- I totally agree with you about #1, problem is, it's very cool for a "tween" (my daughter's age) to get Starbucks. I make my coffee at home, but when we have a "girls day out" I do break down and take her for a mocha frappucino once in awhile.

Just wondering, do you happen to have any video of #5? That would be a great post if you did...

G at the office1...  Basketball???  Really?  Try hockey... better game, better fans...  McDonald's coffee is supposed to be good.  I don't drink any of it.

2...  The only thing I could get voted was the guy most likely to die in a fiery racing accident.

3...  If your son, and my son hang out when they are older, there will be trouble.

4...  "Gitter' Dun"... 'nuff said... ok, I might add that I HATE that.

5...  Sara is something else...  I wish I'd met Jon at "the party"...

1. I completely get that. I don't do Wal-Mart. One of my reasons is that they only sell disposal clothing :)

2. I was too busy "Smoking in the Boy's room" to participate in that sort of thing :) P.S. I would also like to know if you voted for yourself.

3. I would much rather hold him and smell him. I love the scent of a Baby. Assuming of course his diaper is not the 'scent' I'm smelling :)

4. Good point. It's redundancy at it's finest :)

5. I would like to dance with Jonathan. Can I skip the playing nice thing altogether? :)

Do you believe I get points for this crap? :)

P.S. I know. I know. You want me to quit making fun of the points :)

I am not a big Starbucks fan either, although I go on occasion.  Your post will give me pause from now on, though.  I am guilty of using the phrase that you hate (no need to rehash it here).  I may have even said it on the phone to you sometime.  I picked it up from a friend of mine who has a terrible habit of saying it ALL THE TIME.  Your son and my daughter both suffer from terminal cuteness.  I have the same issue when we are in public with her.  It reminds me of the Dana Carvey routine sometimes, when he talks about being weakened by his son's cuteness,

"Must....get....help.  Child....too....cute."

Starbucks is bitter.  I am a Peet's girl all the way.  I think it is just wrong when a perfect stranger pinches a kids cheeks. Keep your hands off.  With that said, you are absolutely right- your son is DARLING.  Does this  mean you have pics of Jon with the bunnies? Don't we call that blackmail??

Bob how refreshing to read your meme post.  I loved it!  I was memed a few months ago and couldn't get to writing about myself.  After reading your post, I'm encouraged and almost brave enough to so it.  Also want you to know we have 5fice Starbucks in our little town of Benicia, and now the city counsel has put a moratorium on franchises due to the increasing number of these coffeeshops.  I'm with you, I go elsewhere.  P.S.  Your son is ADORABLE!

How did I miss this?  I was beginning to think none of you guys were going to man up.  Of course, I'm particularly fond of #3.  I can identify.  They say puppies are great for picking up girls?  Nonsense.  If I had known what a pickup tool the adorable baby was, I would have borrowed someone else's kid long ago.  That Murphy is a real b&st&rd with his laws.  You only get the attention when you can't do anything with it ;)

I would also like to publicly apologize for lining Schultz's pockets with my hard-earned, quickly spent money.   Starbucks is a cruel mistress, but she makes me happy.  In venti fashion.
