Happy New Year everyone. I hope the holidays treated everyone well. I personally had a wonderful time relaxing with my family. For the holidays a colleague of mine gave me a copy of the book, "The Heart of a Leader" by Ken Blanchard. It was a very enjoyable book, a quick read, and it had some very insightful thoughts.

My favorite excerpt from the book talked about the distinction between being "Interested" and being "Committed." Interested folks do something only when it is convenient or comfortable. Committed individuals follow through no matter what. No excuses!

He gave the example of exercise. The interested exerciser wakes up to rain and says I'll do this tomorrow. The committed exerciser laces up his shoes, puts on his rain gear, and hits the trail.

I love this example because I remember training for my first marathon and several times waking up to rain, thinking to myself, what if it rains on race day, and lacing up my shoes and hitting the trail.

The same holds true in real estate. Agents, are you committed to real estate or just interested. I'm looking forward to 2008 being a great year, even if we get rained on a little. - Brian
